Another Boston Castaway Castoff

Dodgers Sign Nick Green (MLBTR)

Really, does this even warrant a separate post? I haven't seen this many minor-league invitations since Hallmark started outsourcing.

UPDATE: ...since hillbillies discovered Evite?

What is our bat boy* situation? I haven't heard anything about signing in that department. Getting worried.

*The guys who carry and move bats around the dugout, not the weird half bat, half boy phenomenon.

Sadly, the WWN Bat Boy has ceded his tabloid territory to the McCourts.

HUGE NEWS:

"Ken Gurnick says the Dodgers signed Scott Dohmann and Argenis Reyes."

At this rate, at least one of us who run or contribute to SoSG will either sign for Dodgers or be invited to camp.

Wow, the Dodgers sign Shawn Green. That's great. Is he going to play first base. I know his production will be less than the 49 HRs he hit for us before, but he will add sock to our lineup.

Wait...you mean NICK Green. Oh........NEVERMIND.

Don't forget, in addition to playing (and I use that term loosely) shortstop Nick Green pitched in an actual major league game last year. That would make him a more promising candidate for the rotation than Noah Lowry. Or Russ Ortiz.

DB, with all these scrubs they've been signing, I bet I could show up on the Camelback campus and claim to be one of the new signees. It would probably take them a couple of days to figure out who I was and another to figure out I was better than Russ Ortiz

Hell, FB, just show up and tell them YOU are Ortiz. Then take off with all the free swag.

Kyle Baker said...

Indeed, FB. Speaking of Ortiz, this whole Random Walk theory of picking a team can't be all that effective, can it?

Fred's Brim said...

Ortiz is too big to fail!

Kyle Baker said...

Is there stimulus money that Dodgers could be eligible for?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Russ Ortiz is the future of this organization. So is Nick Green, pitcher Scott Dohmann and infielder Argenis Reyes.

My new-found optimism tells me that there is a "Bellisario of 2010" story somewhere in all these signings.

Wesley Vento said...

They're signing guys like Nick Green and Jamey Carroll b/c with their small stature and build will be perfect for punching after all the losses the '10 Dodgers are sure to accumulate.

We need to build up our MSB quotient after the departure of Juan Pierre.

For somewhat reason, i feel nostalgic about Luis Maza, Angel Berroa and Mark Hendrikson. Why is that?

I'm sticking with you, Rbnlaw. One of these is going to be our "Ronald Belisario of 2010".

Last night, Pablo Sandoval was almost caught running from second to third. He wasn't because Luis Maza dropped the ball at the last second, but Sandoval was "running fast" and knocked Maza to the ground. It was hilarious, i'd wish i could find some video online.

Then Kung Booooo Panda proceeded to clean Maza's hat of dust. It was also his last game in Venezuela, whick i thank because his team is playing Aguilas here tonight and i don't want his bate alegre (hot bat) swinging at the awful bullpen of ours.

I pity Luis Maza.
