Post-Game 118 Thread: Stampede

DODGERS 9, DIAMONDBACKS 3

Just what the Dr. (Dolittle) ordered:

WOLF. Randy Wolf, on the mound: 7 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 10K; at the plate: 3-for-4 (single, double, 2-run HR in the 4th), 3 RBIs, 2R.

DRAY (HORSE). Andre Ethier: 4-for-5, 3-run HR in the 1st, 4 RBIs.

DOG. Orlando Hudson: 2-for-5, 2-run HR in the 4th.

BISON. Matt Kemp: 2-for-5, 2R.

GOAT. Manny Ramirez: 0-for-4, 2K.

And if you hadn't heard, Hiroki Kuroda was released from the hospital this morning and rejoined the team in time for the game. According to Dodgers.com, doctors have cleared Kuroda to fly home with the team today, although Joe Torre is still being cautious:

Torre said he still is under the assumption that Kuroda won't be available to make his Thursday night start against the Cubs, although Kuroda gave indications he'd be ready. Torre said Scott Elbert was scratched from his scheduled start Sunday at Triple-A Albuquerque in case he's needed Thursday.

Wait, just when my joy reached its zenith, I see this headline:

"Torre still confident in struggling Broxton"

Cue the phone call from father-in-law.

Did I really change tenses that bad in my above post? Yikes. Headed for another beer.

I think it was all because of the lucky Guiness milkshake! Someone has to have one before or during each game to keep the lucky charms alive!

Kyle Baker said...

I somehow missed where they serve the aforementioned milkshakes. Roosevelt Hotel?

This is brilliant, Orel!

Paul said...

Yeah DB. I am not sure of their recipe but looks like you can try it at home if you dare

Still Guiness on tap can not be replaced by the store bought stuff

I can't believe that I have perfected a beer float but have never thought about a Guinness milkshake. Clearly it can'tbe that hard...let's see, Guinness, vanilla ice cream, maybe a bit of milk or Bailey's...

"Mrs. Dusty!!! I have a favor to ask..."

Fine point, Paul. Must at least purchase the kind that has that little gizmo in the bottom of the can.

Didn't think about the baileys DB! Sounds like I will be heading to the store soon.

Fish putting up a fight here in bottom 7, 6-3 Rox

Some huge culinary leaps were made today, from my first foray into Mini Sirloin Burgers to the idea of a Guinness milkshake. This definitely put Los Doyers back on their winning ways. Not sure now what I should have before tomorrow night's game; the pressure is on. (On me, I mean. I'm carrying this thing.)

Looks like they're playing again, finally, in St. Louis (9th) but Phillies and Braves are in rain delay.

Why does Heath bell always suck when I need him to do well?

Survived the b-day party by eating as much Filipino food as I could. Good to hear that Wolf retired 20 in a row and was a triple away from the cycle.

Looks like the Jedi Master is our new stopper.

13 hits and only 3 runs for the Marlins who do they think they are, the Dodgers?

Steve Sax said...

Cantu cannot, stranding two in the 8th. 6-3 Rockies.

Fish have 13 hits and only three runs to show for it.

Steve Sax said...

Whoops, sorry Paul for repeating you

JuanLove said...

whoa crazy stat.

Wolf first pitcher with 3 hits, 3 rbi, 10 k's since Steve Carlton in 1977!

Sax

You introduced me to the Guinness milkshake today! No apologies necessary for you can do no wrong after that beauty.

I think Eric Collins is announcing the LLWS.

*shakes head*

What a game for me to miss most of.

Maybe this was the power of the Guinness milkshake! 25 degrees had better thank SoSG for the pub (no pun intended).

After the game, Mrs. Dusty, sis-n-law, and I lit out for downtown LA. Had a cocktail at Hotel Figueroa before heading to the ESPNZone at LA Live. I've never been to the ESPNZone but was hoping to catch the Sunday night baseball game on the huge telly there. Paid off! Dos Equis on draft, fine pub grub, and did I mention they have a 78 zillion foot screen?

Anyway, not advertising for them or anything, but it is a sweet place (for a chain). As well, they have a great black/white photo of Sandy Koufax and another of Jackie Robinson that damned near made me weep.

I was in the midst of my 2nd 25 oz XX lager when a realization hit me:

Vasquez (ATL) pitched, to lead off the inning, to Ibanez, Feliz, and Ruiz.

How many times does it happen that there are that many names ending in Zs involved in one inning?!?!

One more obscurity I noted, which I was told needed to be the last, was the the similar nomenclature, cross language, between Happ and Feliz. Think about it.

Baker, out...
