Hell Yeah Post-Games 130 & 131 Thread: *burp*

Yesterday: DODGERS 11, REDS 4

Today: DODGERS 3, REDS 2 (12)

After feasting on Cincy pitching yesterday, the Dodger bats played like they consumed one too many servings of Skyline Chili today. The Dodgers stranded nine runners after tying the game at two in the fifth inning, including grounding into double plays in the ninth and tenth innings. But they managed to push a run across in the 12th inning after an unexpected Juan Castro double and a Matt Kemp sacrifice fly.

Jonathan Broxton pitched another tightrope inning (BB - K - PB - BB - K - K) for his 29th save.

Look out, Ray Wolf: Clayton Kershaw was great again (7.0 IP, 2 ER, 11K; 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI), but gets his 12th ND, one behind Wolf's 13.

Player of the series: Kemp: 5-for-13, 2 HR, 5 RBIs.

Despite my earlier claim, I am very happy after this game. Despite the RISP issue continuing, we gritted it out, taking 2-3 and 2-3 on the crucial, crucial road trip. Together with the Rox-Jints series going our way so far, we're putting some distance between us and the pack in the NL West. Good way to come into the net home stand.

Welcome home, boys. We'll see you in the Yard. And Raffy, I think your home in La Canada is okay based on my Google Map research.

Chula Vista kicking ass and taking names in the LLWS.

On the flipside, Rox up 3-1.

idk if it was posted in the GT, but Dodgers acquired Ronnie Belliard for A-ball Pitcher Luis Garcia and a PTBNL

NicJ said...

Yeah I heard that belliard deal.

Two belli's on the team now?

Kyle Baker said...

I work closely with a Giants fan, a Rockies fan and a DBacks fan...all of them grew up in that their teams respective cities yet moved down here for work. The DBacks fan has been quiet this year, same with the Giants fan but the Rox fan has been obnoxious about how they are going to catch us and take us down. I hope this shuts him up

When do we get to start rooting against Gnats again?

Kyle Baker said...

It's a strange world when the Rockies fan is the mouthiest of them all.

Chula Vista in tha heezy!

I love how the rockies go from being the team that was going to take our lead in the west, to the team that is this close to not even holding the wild card by themselves.

I love baseball.

and all that was in the span of just 6 days.

'Tis a glorious thing, Nic

Beimel just gave up about 432 runs. Gnats 9-5 over Rox.

Watching ESPN MLB show leading up to Sunday Nighty Baseball (cause clearly I have nothing else to do). During the recap of Los Doyers, one of the anchors said, with regard to Kershaw's pitching, that you usually don't see this with an umpire but that today's ump had to go ice his right arm after having to all so many KKKKKKKKKKKs.

Dodgers trade for Ronnie Belliard.

Troy from West Virginia must be crying himself to sleep these days.

Well, maybe not about Beimal.

The Giants sweep the Rockies, man I cant wait to go into work tomorrow =D

Kyle Baker said...

Gagne, too bad there aren't any mouthy Pads fans @ your work, cause then you could just talk some smack to each and every one of the NL West pretenders.

Steve Sax said...

@Gagne's LG: I'd like to go to work with you tomorrow too; let me know where and when to meet! I'll be ready to smack talk...

Kyle Baker said...

Also @ Gagne:

I like Sax's idea. It's take your SoSG son and/or poster to work day on Monday, right? The smack talk express can run right through these cubicle ninnies.

Gagne's lucky glasses said...

@Steve & Dusty - That works for me, but can you make sure you pay a visit to the Yankees fan on the floor below us?

Yowzers! All of a sudden Kershaw is 5th in the NL and 10th in the Majors in strikeouts.

Ken said...

I would just like to thank Troy Tulowitzki for saying that the pressure was on the Dodgers, when the Rockies closed to within 2 games. The Rockies now have lost 5 straight!!!

Kyle Baker said...

Tulowitzki is a real tool. Keep talking dat smack, Ken! And others. Still in orbit over this win, this series win, these two road series wins, and the momentum coming into the series with the Snakes.

Alright, who was ready to push the panic button last week heading into Denver?

I mean, besides me. Hey, we got Belliard. That solves our lack of a big bat off the bench, right?

In other news, someone in my neighborhood is BBqing fish. Gawd what a smell.

Kyle Baker said...

@RB

Sorry about the fish smell. Might, however, be better than the overcooked hamburger meat smell that has permeated my neighborhood and house all weekend because of the area fires.

I can't let this baseball weekend go, so am watching BLUETOPIA for the 45th time. Also argung with my father-in-law who remains the eternal Blue pessimist, despite his Dodger love.
