Game 118 Thread: August 16 @ Snakes, 1p

Randy Wolf (6-6, 3.43) vs. Yusmeiro Petit (2-6, 5.87).

COMMENTS: Dodger fans have been on quite a roller coaster of late and things have gone more downhill most of this month. But today, they turn it around.

The Dodgers turn the ball over to Wolf, who has pitched more innings than anyone else on staff. He's going against a little guy (some call him Petit) who was pounced on in his last start vs. the Nationals. A win today would give the Dodgers a .500 roadtrip record before they come home for a tough series against the NL Central-leading Cardinals.

Let's go, Dodgers!

Randy Wolf is a man possessed.

That was the first RBI on a non-HR today.

NicJ said...

Can Randy play first base tomorrow? We need his bat.

I Alivandi said...

BTW, anyone else notice how absolutely vicious the cut Reynolds takes is? It is no wonder he K's so often and hits so many HOUR.

Kyle Baker said...

Hey, Loney got a hit. Of course, it was off that guy named "Tee" who started the game.

I passed by the James Van der Beek "this is my town" billboard today. Yay. That's what we need, more fans of Varsity Blues.

Then I saw the Yoda one, near the Hollywood farmer's market (and Amoeba Music), and all was forgiven...

Hour was supposed to be Home Run. Damn Blackberry predictive text. And I have a full keyboard.

Steve Sax said...

@I Alivandi, Reynolds does indeed hit plenty of hours

Kyle Baker said...

@ I Alivandi

I sat here for 3 mins trying to figure out what cool new acronym that HOUR was, and thought how uncool I was for not knowing what it might be.

I feel somewhat better now to know it was a typo.

Steve Sax said...

@alivandi, gotta remove that from your Blackberry auto-correct dictionary...

I Alivandi said...

Yeah. I think it was worth trading Bradley and Mota (?) for that guy.

@Sax James Van Der Beek rings a nice and loud bell on the female twentysomethings. Not that i know....

@Dusty: Hits Off Ugly Right-handers

Kyle Baker said...

Way off topic, but a fine finish coming up on golf right now. Tiger down a stroke w/ 3 holes to go.

Damn it when commercials are on both channels at once.

I Alivandi said...

Karina - Dawson is still around? I thought he dropped off the face of the Earth after Varsity Blues.

Kyle Baker said...

I was guessing Hit Out - Upper Reserve. I made sense in the context of striking out or hitting it way out, but nothing in between.

I Alivandi said...

Tiger is getting incredibly unlucky today.

Kyle Baker said...

Tiger is putting like...me.

Padres / Cards delayed in the eighth. Awesome, as it further delays the Cards' flight to LA for tomorrow's game. Cue thousands of comments on how STL is getting in at 2am, blah blah blah

karina said...

@Ali i think he hasn't done anything mainstream in a while, in fact, i only have news of him when he participates on Dodgers related events.

I Alivandi said...

How did Bison even get to that?

Steve Sax said...

Here comes the Snakes' comeback

NicJ said...

Nice try kemp, probably should have caught that though.

NicJ said...

Stop playing around Randy.

Steve Sax said...

Way to play the carom, Pierre

Orel said...

Bye-bye, Wolf.

Steve Sax said...

Let's please give Randy a win here

I Alivandi said...

Wolf was far better than 3 ER

Paul said...

What is that horrible song they are playing?

Paul said...

bullpen can hold a 6 run lead right? Right??

I Alivandi said...

Watch Mota now. Low leverage situation, he will throw a perfect 1.2 innings

Kyle Baker said...

Hanley Ramirez caught stealing home w bases loaded and 2 outs. COL still up 4-0.

Kyle Baker said...

They were playing "Milkshake."

[Not really, I was just continuing a theme and trying to put a song in Karina's head.]

Paul said...

Stealing home attempt down by four? Hahaha that is funny

NicJ said...

The pads cards game is delayed for the second time tonight. Hopefully we will get a tired cards team to start the series tomorrow.

Orel said...

Russ robbed twice by Stephen Drew.

Kyle Baker said...

Hopefully that means Cards won't be swinging slower and later, hence perhaps having a better change at hitting the knuckleball.

Paul said...

Is Lima going to start against the cards to bring back some of that 04 magic?

Steve Sax said...

That was a sweeeeeeet golf swing HR for Randy Wolf (since I missed the play during my six-inning nap)

Steve Sax said...

@NicJ 3:42p, meet Steve Sax 3:28p

Steve Sax said...

Two out! Charlie Haegar sighting!

Orel said...

@Ali: "Watch Mota now. Low leverage situation, he will throw a perfect 1.2 innings"

Another prediction come true.

NicJ said...

@sax- Hey if your gonna show up late to the party I can't keep track of all your comments. I owe you some licensing fees I guess.

Paul said...

3-3 road trip. Not bad.

Steve Sax said...

Dodgers win!!!

See ya' tomorrow!

I Alivandi said...

What did I say about Mota in a low levergae situation?

karina said...

@Dusty Baker mission accomplished. Last time this happened i spent a couple of days listening to The Talking Heads, B52's and Echo and the Bunnymen (thanks Rbnlaw, hadn't listened those wonderful records in a while)

Orel said...

Post-Game Thread is up!

Kyle Baker said...

Nice to have a regular PGT not a MFPGT for once.

Good job, boys!

karina said...

Dodgers win!

Steve Sax said...

Hey Nic, no worries whatsoever. Great minds think alike.

Hold the royalty check.

Steve Sax said...

Dad's on the post-game show with Alan Thicke!
