I still don't think she's cute. But maybe the fast food uniform precludes me from thinking so. You could put Salma Hayek in a fast food uni and I'd still think she was ugl....naw, that's not true, either.

The woman is definitely convincing, though. From the way she closes her eye and scrunches her mouth, you just KNOW she loves her some mini buffalo ranch chicken sandwiches and is eager to share such a sandwich with her next customer.

Oh, and for the record, I want to lodge a protest with Jack in the Box corporate for false advertising. I'm not the most up to date on pop culture, but I am positive that this mini buffalo ranch chicken sandwich dance is NOT sweeping the nation. I have witnessed no others doing it besides the folks in the commercial. That does not define it as a craze.

My daughter has taught the dance to her schoolmates. She tolerates watching baseball on TV with me Just To See the Mini Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich Commercial.

At least its sweeping Granada Hills.

I couldn't tell if she was cute in the video.

In the screen cap, I couldn't tell if she was a she... I thought it was Tim Lincecum at first!

Yeah, with the scrunched nose, it's tough to tell how cute she is. I do love the fact that she's totally into the dance, though.

I mean, I'd seen the menopause smoothie woman about one-tenth as many times, and that was more than enough. Bring on the MBRCS woman!

Yeah, I also thought that was TIMMAH!

I'd Do her!

She kind of looks like Casey Blake without the beard in that pic.

Have you guys seen the Spanish version? It's pretty much the same, but with more tuba! (I like the song better, too.)

Oh, and it's free tacos day at JitB!

How did the word Buffalo ever get associated with chicken items anyway? What do buffaloes have to do with chickens, winged or wingless or all chopped up pretending to be burgers, or whatever? And Ranch? What's that have to do with anything? Do they come with so-called Ranch dressing? (Try explaining "Ranch salad dressing" to a European.) This is just a meaningless name some advertising guy thought up, right? Does it work? Why?

is that the mute kid from Little Miss Sunshine?

Via Mrs. Dusty, the other criticism of the MBRCS commercial involves political correctness. She opines that the MSB commercials pushed, but remained within, boundaries around how we are made to view Little People. The world depicted was mostly just everything around us being shrunken, thus smaller cattle, cowboys around the fire, and, of course, smaller burgers. It fit, and the Little People depicted were representative of the world the advertising agency had created, seemingly with no negative stereotypes.

Enter the MBRCS commercials. Here, besides the idea of the sandwiches being smaller, or "mini,"(smaller than what? are there other normal or larger-sized buffalo ranch chicken sandwiches?), all the genius, politically insensitive ad guys seemed to do was say "The MSB campaign was great. What's our followup? Let's get more midgets and just have them dance around for 30 seconds." It's as if they invented the sandwich AFTER the idea of having some our our smaller brethren dance around foolishly.

Berko, I don't know where "Ranch" got its name, but Buffalo wings are named after Buffalo, NY, which is where they started at a place called the Anchor Bar...

Booger said...

yeah, the mini sirloin burger commercial was pretty offensive.

how do you think cowboys feel about being represented like that?

Kyle Baker said...

How do you think the cattle feel? They are about to be slaughtered an eaten.

Having said that, I'm going out for a burger. A regular sized one.

@ J. Steve-

The Lincecum comment has ruined the rest of my day, a day that I will now have to spend a) laughing uncontrollably and b) mad at myself that I didn't make the comment first.

Clearly MBRCS's elicit a lot of controversy.

A lot of the Jack commercial have been done in bad taste

At least this isn't one of them.

Thanks for posting the Spanish song Josh!

I love it. I think the spanish version should be Furcal's new at bat music.

The name "ranch" dressing dates back to at least the 70s. The first brand of "ranch" dressing that achieved broad popularity was under the Hidden Valley Ranch brand. The mix packets are probably still available as well as prepacked dressing. I don't know if they had anything but the mix packets back then--most folks had dressing shakers then.
