Red Sox Make McCourt's Dream Come True

One of the McCourts, anyway. From Eric Sondheimer at the Fabulous Forum (via Dodger Thoughts):

Gavin McCourt, the son of Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, was drafted in the 39th round Thursday by the Boston Red Sox. Will Scott Boras do the negotiating?

McCourt was an all-league outfielder at North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake this season who's hoping to walk-on at Stanford.

"I'm shocked," McCourt said of being selected in the draft. "I didn't see that coming."

Asked about negotiations, McCourt said, "I don't think Scott Boras would fit well into the family dynamics. I think I'll let my dad represent me."

UPDATE: The Red Sox are into famous offspring:

Sox draft Michael Yastrzemski (Boston Globe)

39th rounders always sign for the big dough.
Good luck at Stanford, kid.

What's wrong, all of Frankie's pull couldn't get his son into Hah-vahd?

Sax,
What's that rule about drinking and (double) posting?

I've always wanted to go to Stanford, just so I could take a leak on that giant tree.
