DODGERS' RECORD WITHOUT MANNY: 27-20
Randy Wolf (3-3, 3.64) vs. Ubaldo Jimenez (6-7, 3.83).
COMMENTS:
Greetings, Dodger fans.
Remember me? I was top dog in the Dodger dugout four years ago, but Paul DePo basically gave me the heave-ho. I know he's history, but that whole situation still chaps my buns. Managing the Pirates was no cakewalk either, but now I'm back in the NL West, baby! And we're hotter than Satan's BBQ. We've won 20 of our last 23. You've lost four of your last five. Mo's on our side! Oh, and we miss Manny by one day. Jim Tracy's revenge on the Dodgers was a long time coming, but it'll be sweet. Enjoy eating our oysters!
Sincerely,
Jim Tracy

«Oldest ‹Older 601 – 794 of 794Orel - Bills. He is due for a gem.
Helton is a punch and judy against Lefties. Good thing they PH for Atkins.
Bills is gonna face Marquis. Someone will get that elusive 10th win tomorrow. Or no one. Who knows.
I picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue.
Leach is throwing smoke tonight. Nice to see.
"Orel - Bills. He is due for a gem."
You got that right. Fear the sixth inning.
Jeff Kent is the third-base umpire?
(Because he has a moustache.)
Brent Leach is Brian Fuentes with a better heater. I like him a lot.
Leach 1-2-3!
Quoting yourself, Orel? Sure you're not still sniffing glue?
Leach swims through the 11th with ease
We kept Hawpe in check tonight, that makes me happy.
cmon you jerks, win this will ya? I want to go to bed!
Note to Joe Torre - Leach has plenty of stuff to pitch to RHB, only threw 10 pitches and Mota sucks. PLEASE leave him in.
Too bad we can't use Wolf as a pinch hitter.
Ali: "Helton is a punch and judy against Lefties"
Dude, Punch and Judy? How old are you?! Wow, that's a throwback term.
Hope you're getting annual physicals.
Orel, it's too bad we can't use Manny as a pinch hitter
Send us home Bison.
"Quoting yourself, Orel? Sure you're not still sniffing glue?"
Why, you got some?
Too bad we can't use Plaschke as a pinch effigy
I wonder how Erin is holding up.
This is where a power-bat (cough, cough) could really come in handy (cough, use Mitch Jones, cough).
The Dodgers should grow playoff beards.
Sax - I am well off from annual proctological exams. I just happened to watch baseball before it got too over burdened with stats.
No
One
Wants
This
Game
Wow. Peralta was sick there.
MJ on deck.
Come on Russ. Pretend it is Jered Weaver or Jason Jennings out there and send us home.
Or Peter Jennings.
Mitch Mode should have been up when Loretta was.
Down goes Martin.
Gameday is ready to explode. We lost the strike zone.
yikes
a good swing on the previous pitch and then that
Wow. Russ looked horrible there.
Russell Martin, you are not even a shell right now. Come on, big guy, we need you!
PLEASE KEEP LEACH OUT THERE.
When you mention Punch and Judy, are you talking about a puppet show? I had to research it.
You looked very bad at that bat, son.
Stan Lee is installing carpets now?
So if I just write website addresses on my hand, my kids won't use drugs.
Got it.
sonsofstevegarvey.com
Sax - Russ has actually put up a .421 OBP the last 2 weeks and he crushed one earlier tonight. Hopefully we see more of that and less of this.
Alireza, meet Guillermo Mota. Guillermo, Alireza.
Rockies, meet the win column.
Ali, you are too darn positive and factual!
but right. Thanks
I have faith in Mota here. Mock me if you must.
Why Mota? Seriously, Torre should explain himself to the general public about his management of pitchers.
Falling asleep. Can't keep doing thiszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Another one bites the dust.
Nice pick by Raffy.
One down. Nice by Furcal.
1:20 am here. Thanks the Lord i'm not sleepy yet.
Go, Mota, go.
High heat!
For the record, I don't care if Mota has a 1-2-3. Mota has sucked in high leverage situations all year, as if Torre knows what that is, and Leach threw just 10 pitches, 7 strikes and was throwing 95 with movement. Easy call there.
I still don't get why he got Leach out, i'm aware this is an extra-innings game, but he can deplete his bullpen on Monday.
Well, Mota did his job.
Now's the perfect time for Mitch to knock one out.
666
I think everyone owes mota an apology.
Besides Orel.
Alireza, you gotta hand it to Mota there.
On to the bottom of the 12th, 2-2
At least, no scoring from the Rockies.
Damn Mota got lucky there. Iannetta murders that if he goes the other way.
How d'ya like that. Almost at 700 and no one died.
Except Billy Mays.
Orel, your faith is impressive
Karina, you should go over to Mr LA SF's house and wake him up
Sax - See above. It was still a bad move.
BTW, I made a mistake about Russ. His OBP the last 2 weeks has been .429, not .421.
Sax, do you still want the PGT?
MJWOHR?
Breaking ball to start him off.
Word's out on Jones: no fastballs.
Aw, Mitch.
Three pitches, one out. No fairytale ending tonight.
MLASF woke up!
Well there was Mitch jones. The camera man looked like he was laughing.
Juan with the infield hit.
Beast Mode AGAIN! He is singlehandedly trying to win this thing!
He needs to steal for the cycle.
Beautiful bunt by the Beast. Almost a work of art.
Love the Beast Bunt.
Orel, I think I can do it. Brutal, too, as you can't write this one in advance.
Vin just called the top of the order a gap in the lineup.
Raffy wasted a good pitch there.
I think O-Dog rests on Wednesday (noon start).
On today's newspaper, it was the Dodgers all around. Juan Vene writing about the 1959 World Series and the story of Luis Aparicio doubling off Sandy Koufax. A review of Sunday's game and a half a page article about Belisario, including a mention to his suspected DUI.
O-Dog's pressing big-time.
You must have loved it, Karina!
J-Mac is the only guy left.
Pierre takes second.
Juan should run from first to home. See what happens.
Two bases closer to home!
Wow, that was close.
JP, please don't get picked off of second with two out in the bottom of the 12th
700
700
nice, Alireza!
Now I know how Mr LA SF feels
Come on O-Dog. This slump has lasted WAY too long.
HAHAHA!
Think Jimmy Kimmel is still at the game?
Orel, it was a great way to start the day, the Dodgers don't get much coverage on venezuelan media.
I loved Juan Vene's colum today a little bit more than i usually do. Love old school anecdotes!
*Sarcastic laughter
That counts for comedy when you get into the 700s.
On to the 13th it is.
Nice work Saxy.
This is getting tiresome.
"DAMNIT"
all right, i cursed.
Well, at least we'll shatter 763 easily.
Only two games the Dodgers have gone into the 13th. Both were day games.
And now you see why I crapped on the move to use Mota instead of Leach. At least Mota would be available now and not have pitched yet.
cmon James pitch tough - dont be afraid of these bums
How do you know it's late? When the ladies start cussing.
At least we're stretching out their pen too.
There are like 14 people at the game right now
Orel, it was a grounder to third, with a runner at second, two outs. It could have been lots better.
EIGHT PITCHERS?!?!?!
"Orel, it was a grounder to third, with a runner at second, two outs. It could have been lots better."
You said it, sister.
Nice first out, J-Mac.
Joe Torre is a really, really bad field manager. I don't know if I have mentioned this point before, but it is true.
Alert from a dying, but not yet dead, cell phone: thirteenth inning, and the ushers are STILL not letting anyone sit in the almost completely empty baseline seats. This is absurd.
Sax - I bet they're still not letting people sit in the good seats.
Good, J-Mart.
How's traffic in that area at this hour?
Wow, that was a poorly timed post.
James is dealing!
J-Mac dealing, Rockies reeling
Hey Orel, what's our GT record again this year?
Nice work by J-Mac.
My god, I just finished a MGD here like it was water.
Oh wait, it is water.
J-Mac gets the third out. Wow, that was a quick half-frame.
Beard, Andre, and Bison: all the power in the lineup.
Just 11 pitches. Very good!
I can tell J-Mac is throwing a touch softer to make sure he can absorb innings if need be.
Anyone got plans for Saturday?
Aha! Erin, your iPhone battery LIVES! You lied to us!
Next you're going to tell us that Michael Jackson is still alive, too.
MLSF - Probably working on the wedding registry.
And Ted Williams is cryogenically frozen.
You plan for your wedding on July 4th? Why, you're no better than the terrorists!
That MGD joke is a lot funnier when one capitalizes "IS" in "It IS water".
It's all in the delivery.
Or maybe, the MGD has higher alcohol content than I have given it credit.
This management of pitchers tonight has been ridiculous. What's up with Torre and Honeycutt tonight?
Mr LA SF, LOL on that one. Nice.
Beard leads off with a single.
TRAP
Beard reaches on a leadoff single to right!
I'm going to violate the same rule that I'm using to criticize Vin tonight, and say that Beard will score.
Andre should be happy he's not facing a lefty.
"Hey Orel, what's our GT record again this year?"
763
I really thought Hawpe had caught that, he couldn't keep it, go 'Dre!
does beard have any SBs this year, Alireza?
On the bright side our pen has kept the Rockies in check.
He's got 2, both in the same game.
I could have been at this game. Funny how things work.
Please walk off and send us home.
WINNER WITH ANDRE!
ANDRE HOME RUN!!!!
WHO ELSE?
holy macaroni!
NO PICTURES PLEASE!
Finally. I'm going to bed.
GONE! 'Dre the hero!
Why is Loney punching Ethier in the gut?
Beautiful swing, by the way.
Not that it makes a damn bit of difference now, but Beard has 2 SBs in 3 tries this year.
TAKE THAT, JIM TRACY!
They should hand out Mini Sirloin Burger coupons just for the hell of it.
Way to go, Dodgers!!!!
that was a pleasurable win
Karina - Ethier really does have a beautiful swing. He epitomizes the graceful lefty.
I can't think of a better outcome for Erin, who stuck 'till the end on her birthday.
Does Andre's run count as an insurance run since Casey's run was the winner?
FB - Not insurance, but it counts.
maybe state farm wont notice it in the final tally :)
ok time to go to bed so i can wake up with a swolen hand
gnite everybody!
PGT up! Good night, everybody!
Good night, all! Fine work, everybody!
ciao
Can't we get another 20 posts?
I came back from Nashville on Monday and I was too tired to turn on the computer or check Blackberry. I gave up on the Blue after witnessing too many terrible at bats with runners on late in the game. (Furcal's bunt, Kemp's ground out to the left side, O Dog's grounder to shortstop, Martin's strikeout.)
Glad Andre saved the day.
Now, can we get 19 more posts?
Any help coming here?
Only 18 to go.
Anyone?
Am I performing a soliloquy here?
Hola Neeebs. Check cerati.com. There's a video of a private listening party of the new record. Didn't see it, because it has bits of the songs and i'd rather wait for any new material to be officially released. If you want to, if you see it, tell me the grade of greatness.
Hola Karina:
It's funny to hear the Argentinian accents. I am looking forward to hearing this new CD. But...he doesn't say when it will go on sale. Only says "muy pronto."
He's teasing, Neeebs. It's funny how you bring up the Argentinean accent. It's very difficult and tricky to understand, specially if they come from Buenos Aires. I have to pay lots of attention.
On the screen it said you could hear some bits of the record, but Cerati and his sense of humor...
Karina: Well your best friend is Chilean, so you KNOW that they all speak like they have rocks in their mouth and they cut off the last letter of all words. I personally like how the Argentines pronounce Caballo, and Sabolla.
Now are we going to get any help in reaching 800 here?
I think we are on our own and i came because you asked, like a house elf.
Post #800 is all yours, ok?
House Elf? La Chilena, chica says that we have fairies in our garden. I only ask things from my magic Yoda.
I actually think that it would be funny if someone like Orel or Sax came down and swooped #800 from this thread. I'll let 799 hang for awhile.
Unless you want the honors.
That was funny, Neeebs. I once attended a very long course on "Theory and history of new and contemporary Latin American cinema". Most of the films analyzed, were Argentinean. Thing was, the teacher of this course was a very nice Puerto Rican guy who teaches at some university in Colorado, so many of the films we saw, were in VHS format and had English subtitles. I swear i understood more because of the subtitles than listening to the actors.
However, i'm addicted to and HBO-Argentinean produced series: Epitafios 2.
#800 is all yours, Neeebs.
La chica chilena might be right, there are fairies in all gardens. Yoda is the best, but a house elf belongs to the Harry Potter lore: they are summoned to their masters, every time they are called.

We always go to the Chilean films at the Los Angeles Film Festival. I can understand about 65% of the film, except when they REALLY speak fast. I saw a high school themed filmed called Promedio Rojo. I could hardly understand it because it was set in high school and all the "kids" spoke fast and in total slang.
We just saw a weird Chilean film called Turista. Directed and written by a woman. It was kind of a chick flick.
But then again that is totally off topic here.
Go Dodgers.
Heading to the finish line.
Almost there..........
800
To tell the truth, i haven't seen much Chilean cinema. Most of the Latin american cinema i've watched is Argentinean, Mexican and Venezuelan, obviously.
However, there's this one chilean film, "Coronacion", which is one of my favorites EVER, it's a heartbreaking, contemporary gothic tale of old and impossible love:

Go Dodgers! the honor is all yours, amigo Neeebs.
Nicely made, Mr. LA Sports fan.
MLASF:
Well done, lurking in the forest.
I hereby deem this thread officially closed.
Neeebs
Hey Neeebs, what were you doing in Nashville?
(officially re-opened!)
Sax:
I go back there every year for the Alex LeVasseur Festival.
www.rememberalex.com
Alex was my nephew. His father (my brother in law) is a Country singer/songwriter. My sister and he host the festival every June for the past three years.
Ironically, he bro in law co-wrote the song "My Town" that the Dodgers use as their promo this year. When I heard it played the first week of the season, I called him and asked if he was getting royalties for the promo. He said that no one contacted him for permission or for royalties.
Needless to say he and the Dodgers have been in talks regarding compensation. Funny back story.
