Dodgers start Mark Hendrickson, LHP (1-0, 1.66) vs. Doug Davis, LHP (2-2, 2.79).
Dodgers: 16-11 (1st place NL West, 0.5 GA, W1)
Diamondbacks: 16-12 (2nd place NL West, 0.5 GB, L1)
From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:
Dodgers: Working on seven days' rest since his previous start, Hendrickson pitched his second consecutive gem. He allowed one run -- on a sacrifice fly -- in five innings, leaving early because of a high pitch count despite allowing only two hits. He's now made two starts and allowed two runs in 10 2/3 innings. He's already done more than anyone expected as the fill-in starter for the injured Jason Schmidt.
Diamondbacks: Davis had his best start since joining the D-backs on Friday night when he held the Giants to one run over seven innings at Chase Field. Davis was able to command his offspeed pitches, which allowed him to go to them rather than be predictable with his fastball or cutter when he got into trouble. More important than the number of runs he allowed was that Davis, who has struggled with his control, walked two batters, both intentionally.
