Dodgers: 29-21 (T-1st place NL West (with SD), W1)
Nationals: 21-30 (5th place NL East, 12.0 GB, W1)
From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:
Dodgers: Penny picked up his sixth win of the season Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing just three hits while striking out four over seven innings for the win. The victory ties him for second in the NL, with eight others -- including teammate Randy Wolf -- and his 2.26 ERA ranks third in the Majors. Penny is 11-5 with a 2.33 ERA in 18 career starts against the Nationals.Nationals: Simontacchi allowed just one run over 5 1/3 innings in Washington's 12-7 win over the Reds on Wednesday at Cincinnati. The win was his first on the road as a starter since June 18, 2003, for St. Louis at Milwaukee. The three walks he allowed to the Reds were a season high. His fifth start of the season will be just the second appearance of his career against Los Angeles.

If we don't do some damage against the Nationals I'll be disappointed.
Slappy gets a triple to lead off the game, and then scores a run before Kent squelches the rally. 1-0 Dodgers after 1, on to 2nd.
Penny's at 29 pitches through 2. 1-0 Dodgers going to the third.
How 'bout them Lakers?
Slappy doubles, knocking in Abreu from second! 2-0 Dodgers, one out and Furcal at the plate with Pierre on second...
...and then Slappy gets picked off second. Unclear if he would have scored since Furcal reached on an error and Garciaparra flied out to end the inning, but still. Come on, Slappy!
Double play ends the inning for the Nats. Penny has 46 pitches through three; not too bad.
2-0 Dodgers, on to the fourth.
AZ is up 5-1 in the 2nd vs. PHI; SD down 0-1 in the 3rd vs. PIT; SF up 2-0 in the 4th vs. NYM.
Simontacchi has a lot of letters in his last name, but not a lot of pitches thrown. He gets out of the fourth quickly vs. Kent/Gonzo/Martin, and has 44 pitches through four full frames. On to bottom 4, Dodgers 2-0.
Pierre: 2 doubles, 1 triple. Power surge!
Penny has 90-91 pitches through six innings. Looks like he's finished, as he's due to bat second next inning.
Penny is a better hitter than most of the Nats
So ESPN.com is showing bases loaded in the top of the 7th. Nice. Let's break this sucker wide open.
Not only am I wrong, but Penny hits a double. Good one, Damon.
Jeff Kent is useless even after he got that basehit. Get rid of him and use Tony Abreu at second base, put Nomar at third and Free James Loney. Please, Please.
Pierre has 9 total bases so far!
Patience, FB.
Dodgers have hit for the cycle!
And Yhency puts out the two men-on, one-out fire.
Abreu vs. Abreu to start the eighth!
Hey, what did I miss...YIKES! We broke it wide open! 10-0 Dodgers, going to the bottom of the ninth in Washington. Go Blue!!!
SD loses 4-1 in Pittsburgh.
Giants are tied with the Mets at 3 in the 10th.
AZ is up 5-3 vs. Philly in the 8th.
And it's all over in Washington, Dodgers win 10-0. Good night, everybody!
Brett Tomko Is: The Mopper-Upper.
