The Last Game of the Day (Nationals 7, Marlins 3)

This is the beauty of watching MLB Gameday late at night. (Or, "I need to get out more.")

Two short days after the Marlins hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Dodgers, the Nationals just switched roles with the Marlins. In Washington, with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the ninth, Ryan Zimmerman went yard off Jorge Julio, winning the game on a walk-off grand slam.

What was particularly cool about this win is that it came at 1.42AM East Coast time, after a 47-minute rain delay that stalled the game in the ninth inning. There were 3 1/2 hours of rain delays tonight, so when they resumed the ninth and the Nationals came back out on the field down 3-2, only a hundred fans remained. What a victory for the fans of the last-place Nationals to see.

The win gives the Nationals their first series victory this season.
