Boffo Vs. Da' Bums - Preview, Week Two

In what has become THE RAGE amongst Dodgers fans who read Variety, Boffo vs. Da' Bums (patent pending) enters the second week of the summer movie season. For those first-time readers hoping for more Unicorns, Boffo vs. Da' Bums pits the Dodgers weekend run production (multiplied by 3.5) against the newest bloated tentpole film. After being demolished by Spider-Man, the Boys in Blue are setting their sites on Zombies, that guy from It's Your Move, and WHORES!

Georgia Rules - Rather than sum up the plot, I'll tell you this tidbit. Apparently, a friend of a friend recently had carnal relations with Ms. Lohan (a statement most Americans could also claim). And since this news led to a junior high-ish series of questions, I can tell all our SoSG-maniacs that she's still chasing the dragon, and THEY'RE REAL. Expect her skeletal frame to net Georgia Rules under ten million.

28 Weeks Later - It's been almost five days since the last new zombie film came out on DVD. But 28 Days Later showed that you can teach an old dog new tricks. And with no movies out for the Fangoria crowd, look for the British ghouls to devour a $25 million gross.

Also opening. Delta Farce - I have no idea what the F--K this is. The Ex - Jason Bateman has returned from his Valerie's Family days a pure comic genius. But Zach Braff's fifteen minutes is hovering at the 14:56 mark.

The Dodgers, meanwhile, are facing a recently battered Arroyo, the mediocre Kyle Lohse, and some dude named TBD. This might be the Dodger's last chance at beating Hollywood for several weeks (unless their bats get hotter than Jack Sparrow and Drek 3). Prediction: Dodgers gross $45 million and get one in the win column.

But will it shock *and* awe the world?

Two runs on Friday--not a good start for the Dodgers...

Do only new movies count? Spidey did $17.8M on Friday alone.

This weekend's new movies are on pace for a $20-25M weekend, so the Dodgers have to score 6 runs today and tomorrow to win. I think.
