Scoreboard Watching: May 9, 2013

Only 6.5 games out of first at the beginning of the day, the Dodgers still have a chance to lose more ground to the division leaders, despite being idle.

Yankees at Colorado is underway. Rockies' starter Jeff Francis was knocked out after 4.0 IP, as was the Yankees' CC Sabathia. It's 3-1 Yankees, end of the fifth.

Phillies at Diamondbacks starts at 6.40p, Cole Hamels (1-4, 4.34) vs. Patrick Corbin (4-0, 1.80).

Braves at Giants tips off at 7p, with Julio Teheran (1-0, 5.08) vs. Ryan Vogelsong (1-2, 7.20). The Giants and Braves go at it for four games in SF; we get the Braves for four games at the Stadium in June (on top of of a three-game series in Atlanta in May, which the Giants have as well but in June).

There's a Clemens pitching for Houston.

OC Angels losing to Houston 5-3 in the top 7th.

I was typing something about Angels getting swept, then got distracted (had to make a martini), then returned and modified my comment. If I had stuck with the original, I would have owed Orel a DAMMIT!.

Would Jose Veras be available to pitch today? He's on my fantasy team. I'd love 3 saves from him against the Angels.

Who else do I hateHateHATE that is playing tonight?

Hmmmm....oh, the vaGiants!

Scioscia has a point!

Insanely bad call and game now being played under protest.

Orel said...

Can you explain, Dusty?

Dusty Baker said...

Astros had a pitcher in, pulled him, put in another. OC pinch hit for the batter. Astros then changed the pitcher who had never faced at least one batter (and wasn't hurt). No brainer, right? Nope. Scioscia argued to no avail. Now they're playing game under protest.

Orel said...

Huh. You can explain.

OK, now they're showing replay of Wright throwing warmup tosses. And in the middle of it, Porter comes out. Scioscia may have a strong case.

Angels tie it up!

Angels leading. Given that the game is under protest, I think I'd rather the Angels just win clearly. I have no idea what the implications are when playing under protest.

Orel said...

Angels win. Protest goes away. Darn.

Steve Sax said...

I am commenting under protest.
Except to say it's ATL 6, SF 3, B6

Keep it up Bravos.

Steve Sax said...

Vogelsong pulled a Beckett: he lasted only 4.1

His ERA is ugly. How are they playing plus .500 ball?

Steve Sax said...

Steroids

Watching ESPN. Is FarmersOnly.com a joke? It looks like a bad SNL script

It's all over in SF, Giants lose 6-3

Anyone going to the game tomorrow????

It's my first of the season and they ALWAYS win when I attend.

Orel said...

Not me, Neeebs. Curious to see what you think of the renovated stadium.

And if the Dodgers lose their eighth straight, it's on you.

Steve Sax said...

I turned down tix for tomorrow night, neeebs. Sorry! Being us a win!
