Woke up this morning (late, I know) to read the LAT, and in Dylan Hernandez' piece, "Dodgers still can't find a team they can beat", the lede is positively funereal:
These Dodgers have hit depths unknown to them even during their 10 months in bankruptcy, their 5-4 defeat against a group of no-names wearing Miami Marlins uniforms Friday night extending their losing streak to eight games.
The last time the Dodgers lost eight consecutive games was in 2008. That losing streak was immediately followed by an eight-game winning streak and those Dodgers went on to win the National League West. But that team had arguably the league's best hitter in Manny Ramirez, who wouldn't test positive for banned substances until the following season.
"Negative breeds negative, that's for sure," Manager Don Mattingly said. "Momentum builds one way or another. We see it in all kinds of sports. So, yes, it is hard."The Dodgers are delivering on the promise they made in their marketing slogan. This is "A Whole New Blue."
If we get swept by the Marlins, I think Mattingly is fish food. Whether that's fair or not, I admit. It's just too embarrassing and depressing to let continue without a fall guy (or guys) (or even gals, Ms. Falsone).

Where should we send the bereavement bouquet?
This team was constructed poorly and has had horrific luck. You can't win without a good bench and bullpen and Ned has had to keep space for his bad contracts in the past plus his quick fixes has depleted minor league talent. I would send him back to Frisco.
That being said ain't no quick fixes unless Kemp and Ethier find their swing.
Ethier left his swing....
...in San Francisco....
Wigan beats Man City for the FA Cup! Wow!
What a great FA Cup match.
And Frank Lampard scored a brace to become Chelsea's greatest goal-scorer! Super super Frank!!!
@Saxy 1:33..."Eithier left his swing in San Francisco".
I thought you were going to say he left it in 2011.
@karen 2:44p: You're right! Except it didn't work as well with the song tune
