'I Know A Little German'

Faced with a league-worst 8-13 record before even finishing the first month of play, the Dodgers' marketing staff has rolled out a host of additional "My Town" promotional events this season. Perhaps someone is starting to worry about potential attendance shortfalls?

Futbol fans, LA marathon runners, Brooklyn nostalgists, and facebook neophytes will all get My Town treatment (i.e., $45 gets you a ticket to some right-field lower reserve seats, an all-inclusive menu including special themed items on top of basic Dodger (non-alcoholic fare), and a commemorative t-shirt.

Adding to the original roster of countries (Taiwan, Venezuela, Cuba, Japan, Mexico, Korea), the Dodgers have added My Town nights for Ireland, Italy, Japan, and (to celebrate Oktoberfest) Germany. Hey, I know a little German!

I like the Brooklyn one. If I make it out there at some point this year, maybe it will be for our revenge series against the Mets

I wonder what the Dodgertown, Fernando Valley will look like

I think the Fernando Valley's swell-a.

Mrs. S wants to go to the Star Wars and Philippines Dodgertown nights, but she's bummed that they make you sit in such a terrible section. She really got spoiled sitting in the field boxes last season.

I haven't been to the stadium since LimaTime: how are they about standing room these days? One of the things I like about New Shea is that there is standing room everywhere. The even have cupholders on the railings behind each section. So if you don't mind standing or walking around, you can buy a cheap ticket and stand wherever, including right behind most of the field-level seats

@Josh S: do you know how rigid they are at letting you go to other sections, from the my town section? I mean, there's not a barbed wire wall or anything, so one *could* pick up the t-shirt and a handful of free food and then go sit elsewhere in the reserve level.

Or, as mentioned earlier, they could sell the shirt through other channels/at different concession stands.

It's supposed to be San Fernando Valley, right?

There's also a Kings night. That might be fun (if I were willing to spend 45 bucks on crappy seats and all-you-can-eat).

@Steve Sax I'd wish they'd sell those shirts on the online shop. That's a great idea.
