Hiroki Kuroda vs. Chris Volstad.
COMMENTS: The Dodgers finally got in the win column yesterday, and today they celebrate by sending last year's Opening Day starting pitcher to the mound. (Remember? Kuroda got a 4-1 win over Jake Peavy in San Diego?) Which would be great, except for the fact that Kuroda is grieving the recent passing of Hiroshima Carp teammate Takuya Kimura. Hiroki might not be in the mood to go spearing any fish, if you catch my drift.
But coming off a 10-2 win in which James Loney finally broke out, Ronnie Belliard put his weight a little more into his swing, and Chad Billingsley demonstrated how a starter should persevere through some adversity, the Dodgers may have finally bottled some momentum, for the first time this year. Let's hope today's game doesn't turn into an another awful comedic misadventure, like the Dodgers had in their first two games in Pittsburgh.

Thanks DB...er, KB
I expect big things from Reed today. Maybe he'll stretch a single.
Gameday
Giants are turning back into the Giants early on.
I guess that's a hint to change my name back, huh?
If my last name were Pesci, and I had a dollar to my name, I'm not sure I would choose to be in a movie with "Fishing" in the title.
This constant lineup shuffling is getting really ridiculous, even with Ethier out.
It's like Torre just can't help himself.
I actually like this hitting order..
But ill take Kemp hitting 2nd any day.
How can it be getting ridiculous already? It's only the fourth game of the season.
Let's hope Kuroda throws a gem in honor of his friend.
Braves beating San Francicso(sic) 4-0. Clearly they are not as amazing as everyone first suspected.
Er, 4-2.
Yall ready to do this?
Holy hell...they are showing the Opening Day festivities on the Marlins feed. This is beyond awful.
Steiner already in fine form, calling Hanley Ramirez the defending NL MVP.
OK, I've got a little under an hour left to kill at work. An early offensive explosion would be a great way to end the week.
Yah Steiner was having a hard time with 'Iwamura' yesterday. Is it really that hard, it is rather phonetic.
Why the delayed start?
"Delayed: Ceremony"
I do believe this is the first time I've ever logged into Gameday and seen "Delayed (Ceremony)" as the status of the game. Get on with it!
I'll let them have their ceremony. Today's the only time they're going to have people in their stadium all year.
Delayed (Circle Jerk)
That poor little Gameday batter has to just stand there with the bat, waiting for the invisible pitcher.
They still don't have anyone in the stands...and they had the lead singer from Creed sing the National Anthem...play the game already.
Josh, I'll go along with your generosity and also let them have their ceremony. I just wish there was a timetable for how much longer before I can watch Gameday. That batter is starting to look bored...
Woohoo! Game on!
First pitch!!
Raffy was effing tired of waiting.
RAFFY DOUBLE
One of the fullest Dolphin/Land Shark/Sun Life Stadium crowds I have seen, and it's still only half-full (on Opening Day, no less).
Woo hoo on base!
Anyone watching the game? How was that a wild pitch? On Gameday, it looks like it was a strike down the middle...
I think there's a certain amount of seats the Marlins can sell. No matter what, they could never get a "full" crowd.
Damn Johnson. Couldn't score the runner.
@J. Steve: It went under Baker's legs and bounced up in the air along the backstop.
Favorable zone from the ump. Those first two were outside.
Deja Vu?
If a Dodger gets on third with no outs, they should pack a snack.
Ah, another year of complaining where Kemp is hitting in the order. I hate to say it, Loney never has been a 3 hitter, and at this point, he never should be.
"They still don't have anyone in the stands...and they had the lead singer from Creed sing the National Anthem"
I would posit that there is a positive correlation.
@MC (2:54)
I get it. Someone should acknowledge wit in subtle, yet brilliant form.
:-)
"That had the hook of a banana."

FWIW: Loved the "white people" thread in the prior post.
@Neeebs
How would you suggest we proceed?
Oh, Collins. How I loathe you.
Just let it swim by.
You know, I think I wouldn't mind Steiner so much if he was back on TV. That way, I could see for myself what was happening with the ball when he's shouting, "FLY BALL! HE'S WAY BACK! HE'S WAY BACK!" and not get filled with false hope.
But your new avatar scares me.
I'd have to say, man on third with none out and failure to score sounds like a comic misadventure to me.
Scoreless through 1.5.
Giants and Braves tied at 4 in the 11th
DeWitt, thy glove fails you.
OH COME ON
So how many errors is it going to take Dewitt to lose his job?
Ruled a hit.
"So how many errors is it going to take Dewitt to lose his job?"
Let's ask Mr. Uggla.
Generous scorekeeper.
If Dewitt throws up 30 dingers I'll take that.
For once the cruel hand of Cody Ross does not smite us for shunning him.
Is it just me or is Sanchez tiny?
Yeah, he's...not big.
Now Volstad is TALL
KKKKuroda
Clayton Kershaw, take note.
I'm out.
Just like the old times!
Time for the delicate choice of whether to go home immediately or wait for the end of an inning. I inevitably miss something between the office and the garage.
Would be nice to put up a little bit of a fight here. Are we getting distracted by Mermaids?
Where is Hu?
Kuroda gives up a run with one out in the sixth. Will he reach the Promised Land of the seventh inning?
Leadoff double by Manny. Can we frickin score him thus time???
Giants beat Braves 5-4 in 13
Everyone is commuting
Blake needs to get Manny home, or it's up to Blake DEEWitt (spelled with 2 Es)
Offensive explosion! 2-1 Dodgers
just turned the game on. sweet sweet error
could have used that run / rbi combo for my feisty fantasy team
Nice seventh for Kuroda. 4-1 Dodgers
Nine-pitch AB by Kemp results in a walk. Nice.
whole lot of nice
i wish directv mlb-mix played all the audios at the same time. Eight simultaneous different games and one track of audio is just not enough sensory overload.
Commute and dinner done. Baby napping.
Kuroda is BOSS.
the way he said 7 strikeouts, you'd think Kuroda just pitched a perfect game
I think Joe's allergic to complete games.
I'm pleased with current developments.
Josh: "Baby napping."
Give that baby back!
Late to the party... only 87 comments?
Road Loney shows up.
@Steve Dittmore
It's Friday night. Some of us have lives...wait, no, that's not it.
@Mr. C... But it's still early on the west coast. I guess I assume everyone is on the west coast except me.
Guess it's the weekend rush, Steve.
Three runs of Geico! 7-1 Dodgers
James Is on pace to steal 81 bases! My life is over so now I can watch the game...wait that is not what I meant.
7 - 1. No problem.
An Oritz pitching... uh....
RUSS Ortiz.
Um, good.
I'm trying my best to be cautiously optimistic with Mr Ortiz.
RUSS YOU SUCK!!!
No, I take that back. You're gonna be okay.
Stay on target. Stay on target.
@Delino
The most insidious thing about Voldemortiz is that in that gray area *just* before he fucks everything up, he seems plausibly competent.
Ask the Diamondbacks about how it worked out.
Ummmmm maybe I should go back to life. How was that 2-0 pitch a ball!!!?
Positive thoughts. Positive thoughts...
Russ Ortiz walks the bases loaded.
Anyone watching the Marlins feed? They have the worst call to the bullpen sponsor. Bad take on Ghostbusters.
I think the hulk could fit into Broxton's pants.
Like Homer Simpson in clown pants?
Okay get this guy! Sweep the leg.
Voldemortiz. I like that. I was taking to call him E.R.Tiz
"I've never had pants fit me so well"
Helms bases-loaded double off Broxton. 7-3 Dodgers
Can we put Kuroda back in? Give him one of those fake SOSG names.
@Delino
Credit to Josh on that nickname. I was going with he-who-must-not-be-named, and he put 2 and 2 together.
Come on you thick legged monster! Finish him
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Heh. Brox was just getting their hopes up.
dos mas
my bad, uno mas.
0-2. Get him a body bag!
Here, have two runs.
Want more?
PSYCH!
Well that was more interesting than it needed to be
Winning a bit ugly in the end is still winning.
Broxton's going to celebrate by getting himself a jumpsuit
Have a good Friday, y'all. Rock on
Eric Collins looks like a mix of characters from SNL
Does that mix include Buster Poindexter?
Did Professor Dittmore infer that I have a life? I resent that remark!
*rocks back and forth while staring at Maple Street Press magazine*
I think so. Buster Poindexter also picked the Rockies to win the division.
