With the Dodgers dropping three games to the Mets in just under 24 hours, wrapping up a scintillating 2-7 roadtrip, we can now take a deep breath and reflect upon other great moments in 2010 Dodgers baseball that we face at the end of April. Like Vicente Padilla, Manny Ramirez, Jeff Weaver, Rafael Furcal, and possibly Andre Ethier all getting injured. Or the fact we've lost all five of five road series. Or the fact that we have to leave critical at bats to a .135 pinch-hitter in Garret Anderson. Or the fact that we have the 12th best ERA in the NL, but we've dropped series to two of the four teams beneath us...and we're about to face four at home with one of those who has bested us already, the Pittsburgh Pirates.
There are no NL teams with fewer wins than the Dodgers, and only one team in all MLB with fewer wins than the Dodgers (and it's the woeful Orioles). Clearly, we are playing the part of The Losers right now. And we're not even playing that part well.

The recent turn of events definitely hurts. As wise man Vin Scully once said "Losing feels worse than winning feels good." Here's to a quick Dodger turnaround.
Even the loser's get lucky sometimes :)
I wouldn't mind if they were The Losers right now because they were kinda awesome.
"Even the loser's get lucky sometimes"
Found a title for my memoirs, thanks MB!
@Mr C. - Don't thank me, credit goes to Mr. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for coining that one.
We've had plenty of Heartbreakers this year, that's for sure
@Josh S 1.40p: The Losers was indeed awesome, but it opened in a very disappointing fourth place.
Kind of like the Dodgers.
wack
Wow. Didn't realize the Dodgers already played and lost today.
On the bright side, with no game until tomorrow night we can be assured that the next 24 hours will be more successful than the last 24 hours.
PIT takes a 6-5 lead in the 14th. They win and we remain alone in the NL basement.
Though, if ATL loses later, we'll have company again.
Wait! There is a light on the horizon!
Saturday is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!
Mr. C
I thought the title was suppose to be The Geocentric Gin drinker who hates the Giants.
I am going to the Gints and As triple A game tomorrow for one dollar crappy beer and to take out Steve Posey before they call him up.
A loser can win anytime he wants. All he has to do is bring you down bring You down.
Thanks Dodgers for bringing me down.
FB
amen brother. I haven't felt this pissed in awhile. Not Brian Johnson homerun pissed off but pretty close.
And here is where my split allegiances come to the surface... both proud and ashamed I be...this ike davis kid has been a lucky charm for the mets. Even the typical ollie pderez meltdown didn't result in a loss. Dodgers will set their ship straight...just like the mets will inevitably crash into the rocks
Haha giants bullpen fail. No win for Timmy.
If it makes you feel better, at least you don't have trevor hoffman on your fantasy baseball team like moi
Trevor Hoffman is still alive?
"Trevor Hoffman is still alive?"
No, but every time they play "Hell's Bells", he rises from the grave and gives up a home run.
All I need is to hear the soothing sounds of Vin Scully to ease this malaise I have been in since this damn road trip started. SERENITY NOW
the curse of Eric Collins lives on
Time to resort to scoreboard watching. Some team and the Giants are tied at 5 in the 11th. Lose, Giants, lose!
Giants are losing 6-5 in the top of the 11th! Hell yeah!
this just in: Eugenio Velez still terrible in left
We have about 26 days until Eric Collins is scheduled to call his next game. Perhaps a letter-writing campaign is in order. I don't want him unemployed, I just want him far, far away from the Dodgers.
Damn, my RSS reader I sometimes use to view SoSG comments displays related topics based on content. It had a link to the following article which *really* got my hopes up:
Eric Collins Arrested In Arrow Shooting Of NYC Woman
Phillies really want to get swept
Phillies really REALLY want to get swept.
phucking phillies
Velez with a chance to make up for his shitty fielding
or be a complete and total goat
5 for 5, Nate's had quite a day, I gotta respect that.
But aside from that...the Giants still need to lose the game.
awful slide by Uribe!
He tagged Schneider's glove which was on home plate
Velez, being ever so gracious, gives the Phillies another out.
Albeit on an out-at-home play, but you take what you can get.
it wasnt a bad slide actually
Schneider made a great play
I'm rooting for the Earth to open up beneath both teams.
Phils finally don't lose
Giants lose! Yeah! Phillies wi---gosh darn it.
-is wondering what the forums are churning out over at MCC-
Not that I care really, but why did a Wednesday game at Angel Stadium start at 4? That just seems weird.
@paul
That's the parenthetical title.
I've been trying to find better alliteration for "hates the giants", but I'm partial to that phrasing.
"Curse of Eric Collins" post going up in 15 short minutes. Thanks for the heads up, guys; I needed to get our intern to do a bit of research before I had the content...
To answer my own question:
4pm start because it's a get-away game for the Indians.
It is a sad day for being a Dodger fan when all you have left is schadenfruede. Hey, Mr. C, another title for your memoirs:
"All I Have Left is Schadenfreude."
A man named Dusty might say, "Fuck me in the armpit."
We really suck.
@RB
Schadenfreude and a good stiff drink can get you through most anything.
Should I take penicillin for my schadenfreude?
Sax,
No way! Try putting some spicy mustard on your schadenfrede. It's delicious.
Guys, there's better mood in funerals, sick beds and classrooms holding difficult final math tests than here.
"Schadenfreude":a word i can read and write but not pronounce. I should make a shirt that says "Learning with SoSG and their readers since 2008"
Schadenfreude = shaw-den-froy-duh
@Karina- I would totally wear that shirt!
Pessimism is the life blood of the sports fan. How else could the Pirates maintain any semblance of a fan base?
Man it is so somber in here.
I blame Kemp for this, its always his fault.
My annoyance with the Dodgers was long enough that I am getting rebound-giddy.
How Mr. C got his groove back.
A sweep of the Pirates and..... Shit we still won't be at .500.
It is the curse of Jeff Hamilton.
At least we have an easy interleague schedule coming up. We can easily take Tigers, Angels 2X, Yankees, BoSox.
I remember last year i was worried that the tough AL schedule we had to play would hurt our chances of getting to the postseason. Ah how i wish i could go back to those carefree days.
This mini shit storm with Stewart/Kemp/Colletti is giving me heartburn.
Get this resolved guys.
At least we have a strong owner that can set this straight and not a carpet bagger who is more concered with his ego and flared collars than the team and their fans.
i am not feeling the fahrvergnugen in here
@Paul: does "mini" modify "shit", or "storm"?
Colletti's on his heels. He's afraid he's going to take the heat for the craptacular start to the season, and he's trying to scapegoat others. Kemp got caught in the crossfire.
You know it's bad when MLBTR has a whole page detailing what the Dodgers could do if they're out of the race.
@MLASF
Agreed re Ned. Can't hang it on Torre like you could on Grady. If someone pays, it's probably him (or the coaches, but that's just bushleague)
@Sax
well there was a mini horse running around here. Watch your step.
Ned just needs to say Kemp's name and know that will make the sun shine through the rain.
I go away for a few days and look how the team falls apart.
Ah, yes the '05 season. 15-8 in april that year and we all remember how that turned out. So i guess its not how you start the season.
I just confirmed the one dollar beer I will be drinking at the minor league ballpark tomorrow is tecate lite......tecate lite. Oh this will test my love for baseball and beer.
