Game 29 Thread: May 4 @ Braves, 4.35p

Dodgers start Brett Tomko, RHP (0-2, 3.75) vs. John Smoltz, RHP (3-1, 3.96).

Dodgers: 17-11 (1st place NL West, 2.0 GA, W2)
Braves 17-10 (T-1st place NL East, W1)

From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:

Dodgers: Tomko had a perfect game through 3 2/3 innings on Saturday, but one bad inning cost him and the Dodgers against the Padres. He had a lapse of four consecutive hits in the fourth inning that resulted in three San Diego runs. Tomko is 0-3 with a 9.15 ERA at Turner Field lifetime.

Braves: Smoltz will be working on an extra day of rest that could prove beneficial after going seven innings in a victory on Friday in Colorado. He will be shooting for career victory No. 197 after limiting the Rockies to two runs that scored on a first-inning home run.

1st inning, 2 in for the Braves. Here we go....

4 straight balls. Doesn't Tomko usually wait a few innings before falling apart?

Russell guns him down!

Who do you want up with the bases loaded? Wilson Betemit!

Another bases loaded choke.

Bases loaded, no out. Watch Ethier, Betemit, and Martinez all CHOKE.

This is painful to watch.

Good job, Beimel. Put out the fire and save the pitcher to lead of the next inning.
