Post-Game 6 Thread: What's the Story Here?

MARLINS 6, DODGERS 5

Joe Torre's mismanagement of Jonathan Broxton? An already depleted bullpen that couldn't hold on to a lead with Velcro gloves? Another costly Dodgers error? Rafael Furcal and Matt Kemp each striking out on three consecutive strikes with men on in the ninth inning? Andruw Jones' game-winning RBI for the White Sox today? Juan Pierre starting the relay that nailed the man at the plate for the final out of the White Sox win? Egad.

Is there going to be a "GT" for the new Glee episode?

That's all we have these days.

Steve Sax said...

Yes, our Glee certainly ain't coming from the Dodgers.

Interesting thought starters, Orel. I think the problem is pitching, and our inability to either go deep enough to get a lead or know what to do with it once we've got it.

I will not accept this level of boobery for my first ever home opener.

Get it together, gents.

Begone from my avatar, curly-headed cartoon d-bag. You did me no good.

Kyle Baker said...

Josh said boob.

Nostradamus said...

This bullpen really needs a pitcher or two not qualify as an arson squad.

Paul said...

It is the perfect storm (or the opposite of perfect) a rotation that can't go deep, bad defense and a bullpen lacking depth.

Paul said...

A shit storm?

Nostradamus said...

The only sports-related bright spot so far is that thehe Portsmouth - Spurs match was pretty good. As for Liverpool, I'm numb to their suckitude at this point.

Paul said...

God if fellow alum Nick Watney didn't have such a bad round on Friday he would he in the lead.

Nostradamus said...

Paul,

That's the unholy trinity of suck, right there.

Paul said...

Be be be not he. Error number 2 for me today.

Kyle Baker said...

Chelsea v Pompey on May 15.

Nostradamus said...

Have to like the Blues chances, Dusty

NicJ said...

Bad news for Rox. Carlos gonzales left game with hamstring injury. Good news for us.

NicJ said...

Dodgers lose, lakers on their way to a loss.

Why does sports always ruin my sundays?

rbnlaw said...

Pompey? Love it.

NicJ said...

kobe finally gets a foul call!!!!!!! up 1 with 30 seconds.

NicJ said...

they fail to block out the offensive rebound though

NicJ said...

wow what a finish!!!

NicJ said...

CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE

NicJ said...

man this is a horrible ending to a game.

Orel said...

Lakers taking inspiration from the Dodgers?

Orel said...

Lakers backing their way into the playoffs. Sound familiar?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

At least the Kings won. 1-for-3.

NicJ said...

so who are the kings set for in the playoffs

NicJ said...

Man the Angels are getting clobbered again. I guess the dodgers aren't so bad if you look and see what's going on Over there. The dodgers have been I position to win games and didn't get it done. The angels are getting blown out.

Kyle Baker said...

And Angels have had a lot of home games; they haven't had to go on an East Coast trip like we had to do. They can't be feeling good about things.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Kings and Canucks.

NicJ said...

Canucks, ugh. Well its an easy roadtrip.

Neeebs (The Original) said...

I'm amso F@cking Jazzed for the Kings playoffs. I've only waited eight years. Vancouver is a tough team. Big and talented, with a Gold Medal Goalie.

NicJ said...

Yeah, i was up on them until Quick took a nosedive a couple of weeks ago. Im still not sure whats wrong with him.

Im just hoping they hit a hot streak and try to do some damage in the playoffs.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I'm hoping Quick just got the yips over nearing his 40th win.

The Sedin twins are what worry me.

Neeebs (The Original) said...

@NicJ

I can't figure out what happen to Quick, either. I think him being the third, seldom used goalie during the Olympic break brought him some bad habits.

NicJ said...

Yeah Henrik has quietly been destroying the league while ESPN fawns over Ovechkin/Crosby.

NicJ said...

The whole time i was watching team USA i would think to myself "this long break is going to throw off Quick's Rhythm." He wasnt horrible right after, but recently he has show more wear.

Bernier anyone?

Neeebs (The Original) said...

The blogs are calling for Bernier. I would dance with who brung you unless he looks bad after two games. Only then would I make the call for JB

Paul said...

Is the playoff schedule out yet?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I'm optimistic about Quick. He's been slowly improving over the last few games. He looked solid in that SO loss to the Ducks.

NicJ said...

yeah that's sort of what i was getting at. I like Quick a lot and i hope he does fine.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

@Paul - No schedule, just the matchups.

Steve Sax said...

Maybe we will need to do a Kings GT.

Kyle Baker said...

Playoffs? Playoffs?

NicJ said...

at least we dont have corey hart on our team

NicJ said...

randy starting for the brewers still makes me a little sad.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

So much for the ace factor.

NicJ said...

maybe i would like corey hart on the team.

Kyle Baker said...

If it makes you feel any better (and it does for me), Lincecum gave up a 2 run HR in the first inning.

Nostradamus said...

That always makes me feel better #schadenfreude

Kyle Baker said...

Also, Scotch makes you feel better.

spank said...

Personally I'm more Breaking Bad than Glee but who asked me. Anyways I can't wait fot Tuesday and Vin. Man I have not heard him since last year. The Dodgers, Vin, Cold Beer and Steely Dan. Makes the game a wonderful thing.

Orel said...

Randy Wolf must be wondering what to do with all this run support. Brewers 6, Cards 2.

NicJ said...

Look at that, we already have an ace like carpenter.

NicJ said...

giants are unstoppable. yuck.

Kyle Baker said...

Wolf will feel really at home if Brewers give up a healthy lead and blow his chance for a W.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Maybe Jason Heyward will send a Brian Wilson fastball into Oakland and lead the Braves to a win.

Kyle Baker said...

Hopefully J-Hey will do so, then do a Casey Blake and taunt Wilson's lame symbology.

(I know Blake didn't have ill intentions on that, BTW.)

Fred's Brim said...

I just got my tickets for Dodgers at Mutts April 26-28. Which team will be further back in the division at that point?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Well the Braves ain't winnin. KFP made sure of that.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

First Kings playoff game will be Thursday at 7.

NicJ said...

Should we just pencil SF in for a world series loss now?

rbnlaw said...

Look on the brightside; catching prospect Carlos Santana is off to a blistering start at Triple A.

Oh that's right. . .

NicJ said...

it was better when we did that too Hoff

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Hey hey, Wolf lost a win, that's surprising.

Orel said...

Flashbacks to 4+1?

NicJ said...

man, watching that game makes me realize that the dodgers have very little in the power hitting dept.

Orel said...

But we hit a lot of doubles!

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Only we strand Furcal each time.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Santonio Holmes was traded to the Jets. Because there's nothing else going on.

Oooh, Apprentice!

Paul said...

Positive perspective: The Yanks and the Phillies were both hovering around .500 after a month of baseball last year.

Negative perspective: We ain't the Yanks and the Phillies.

Nostradamus said...

@Paul

Your negative perspective should rightly be interpreted as a positive in my view.

Paul said...

Mr. C,

I stand corrected! Well played.

Nostradamus said...

There are some fates worth than suck.

Kyle Baker said...

I went to dinner. Seriously, Wolf lost that win?

Paul said...

Well at least Casey hit the walk off blast against the Cardinals salvaging something for the Red wave.

Paul said...

If you would have told me before the game that Belly Johnson Loney and Kemp would have multiple hits today and Chuck would have struck out plus 10 I think i would have hard time figuring out how they could lose.
