Post-Game 19 Thread / Game Thread 20: April 27 @ Mets, 4p-ish

Hey look, another zero!

Game 19 result: METS 4, DODGERS 0

Game 20 matchup: Charlie Haeger (0-2, 6.46) vs. Oliver Perez (0-2, 3.71) (Gameday).

There was a time when the Dodgers' offense was ridiculously potent. But the Dodgers got sleepy in Washington, being shutout Sunday 1-0 and then following up with an inspiring 4-0 loss in New York. This, after the team got an extra day off yesterday due to rain; one would think that they had plenty of time to rest up while visiting New York City, right? Or maybe the young Dodgers did all their scoring elsewhere last night?

Let's hope the shower and the long half-hour rest between games pays off. Wait, that second game is already on!

no doubt, Albert has a pretty good glove too. Ryan Howard has a pretty subpar throwing arm too, which isnt used a whole lot in his position but still.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Takahashi has an almost Dan Haren like throwing motion.

NicJ said...

Charlies gonna get whacked around if he cant get the knuckleball over for strikes.

Betsy said...

Walking bonanza

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Joe's making the walk of shame.

NicJ said...

troncoso's warming up? wow twice in one day.

NicJ said...

i remember seeing this same situation in the last game and it didnt go so well.

karina said...

Is anyone else worried about overworking Troncoso's arm so early into the season?

NicJ said...

really missed loney on that DP attempt.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

That was close to being just bases loaded, nobody out.

NicJ said...

Karina, you can pencil Tron in for a DL stint. He is the workhorse in the pen till someone else can get outs unfortunately.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Nice hop from Chinface.

Betsy said...

i <3 Blake! That was a hot move!

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

If they score another run my fist is going through a wall.

NicJ said...

almost wiggled off the hook.

Steve Sax said...

"David Wright has just killed the Mets over the years."--Charley Steiner

Now I know why we don't play doubleheaders. Charley can't last that long.

karina said...

Nic j, that was exactly what i was thinking.

Anyway, after back to back walks with no outs, this inning turned out very well.

Steve Sax said...

@NicJ 6.30p: Troncoso may want to go to the DL just to hang out with the A team again

NicJ said...

well until then.

Steve Sax said...

SHIT

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Now TWO fists are going through a wall. We're screwed.

Steve Sax said...

6-3 Mets, just like that.

We're done.

NicJ said...

I dont like ike.

NicJ said...

Four eyes warming up? great.

Mr. Customer said...

Aw, bollocks!

That's why we can't have nice things.

Steve Sax said...

SD up 4-1 in the seventh and looking for more dead fish

Col up 7-1 on AZ in the third

SF sucks but they're scoreless with the Phils.

Mr. Customer said...

Hi everyone, btw.

Josh S. said...

Never ever ever give Tron inherited runners.

NicJ said...

Hi, Mr C

karina said...

Gameday just played with my feelings :(

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

The good news is if we score, we score three runs. 'Cause that's how this game is working.

karina said...

@Steve Sax 6:36 that was Mustang quality.

Epale Mr. C!

Steve Sax said...

@karina: Mustang quality?

Steve Sax said...

Blake DeWitt is batting .245 and we have to play him anyway since everyone else is injured

karina said...

@Steve Sax did you forget about the awesome Mustang story you wrote a couple of seasons ago?

NicJ said...

at least we are getting this road series loss out of the way quickly.

MR. F said...

Hi Mr. C.

Felix Pardalis said...

so, is it time to talk Lakers yet?

Steve Sax said...

the good news: we don't have the worst ERA in the NL. We're 11th, ahead of AZ, WAS, MIL, CIN, and PIT.

the bad news: we've already dropped series to three of those five teams.

yay

NicJ said...

mmmm, like in 40 minutes.

Steve Sax said...

@karina: Ah yes, the mustang.

Alas, at this stage we're up on cinder blocks in the driveway of a crackhouse

Mr. Customer said...

Epale Karina! Nice to see you back where you belong.

karina said...

Henry Blanco=Dodgers killer?

NicJ said...

Dodger pitching = horrible

Steve Sax said...

well at least Link got the pitcher, oktorok, out.

Felix Pardalis said...

revenge for being let go back in ... 98????

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

We're screwed. And Collins needs to use his indoor voice.

Steve Sax said...

9-0 colorado in the third, and they're still rolling

NicJ said...

Kemp's arm has degenerated to the point where he can even throw out an old catcher on a 1st to 3rd.

Steve Sax said...

@Mr LA SF: That is his indoor voice.

Do you think they've let Collins off of house arrest? I doubt it.

NicJ said...

mets are runnin' wild on the dodgers.

karina said...

Do you know what's Blanco's nickname for fans here? Henry "no le pego un hit a nadie" Blanco which means he cpuldn't even hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Felix Pardalis said...

at least the Cavs are losing

NicJ said...

Whats up with the Mets and the cheap belts? I thought this was the big leagues?

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

If Eric Collins and Gus Johnson ever met, the fabric of space and time would very well shatter.

NicJ said...

haha karina.

Then the Dodgers = the pacific ocean tonight.

NicJ said...

cavs are losing? that cheers me up.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

I'm certainly not missing Link.

karina said...

Why don't we stop saying Dodgers pitching is horrible and we say what almost every sports announcer say in April: most pitchers are not up to their game because it's too early in the season.

Idealism over pesimisism.

NicJ said...

Breezy is a litter bug.

Felix Pardalis said...

sports journalism is so bad that I groan when I even see an athlete has an easily punned name

karina said...

Hahahaha Nic j. We could add a couple of seas there too!

Spanky said...

Bases Loaded. This is not good

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Sherrill's in to clean up this mess? He couldn't clean up the Mayo Clinic with a dust buster.

Steve Sax said...

Link is missing.

Steve Sax said...

But I'm not missing Link!

NicJ said...

Where is that damn rain? mercy please.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

That was crappy on both ends.

Steve Sax said...

f'ing a, Mr LA SF is 3 minutes ahead of me

karina said...

In spite he can't hit, Blanco could run for president. He's popular because he always plays winter baseball, used to play for our Yankees team and we can't deny he's a great defensive catcher (though he shouldn't run for his life, he'd fail to stay alive)

NicJ said...

Our streak of errorless games is over at one.

Steve Sax said...

tell me what happens to Reyes in this at bat, Mr. LA SF from the future

karina said...

*sigh*

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Reyes grounds one to Carroll, bad throw to Ellis at home, and everybody's safe.

Steve Sax said...

someone please tell me what happened there as gameday sucks again

Steve Sax said...

shit you're anticipating my questions now, mr la sf

Steve Sax said...

Bay leaves, but the mets are still spicy with only two away.

NicJ said...

bases clear

karina said...

@MrLASF why can't you forecast a double play?

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

FUCK YOU COLLINS YOU JINXING BASTARD

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Fist, meet wall. Wall, fist. Fist, wall.

karina said...

Sherrill, please don't walk Wright.

NicJ said...

kemp missed two cutoff men on that throw.

Steve Sax said...

bases-clearing triple

10-3 NY.

Bring on the lakers.

karina said...

I'd wish he walked Wright.

NicJ said...

well he didnt walk him karina.

Steve Sax said...

Someone go up to the booth, find Collins, and take him far away from the Dodgers once and for all.

karina said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
NicJ said...

oh come on, that was a strike three pitch when loney was up.

karina said...

what did Collins say?

karina said...

I trust in Dodgers offense.

Spanky said...

I cannot remember the last time our pitchers have been this bad. It must be a bad dream.

Steve Sax said...

Link ERA: 11.57
Sherrill ERA: 7.04
Haeger ERA: 7.45

karen said...

We need a little redemption from the Lakers

Steve Sax said...

@karina: nothing in particular, but he's still continuing to jinx the dodgers

Spanky said...

I have officially nicknamed the bullpen "The Nightmare"

Spanky said...

I think I'll use it for the lakers bench also.

karina said...

@Mr Customer i don't know if i belong but i certainly love to be here.

karina said...

Someone: the Lakers are doing so-so, but last game was awful, however they are not as disappointing as the Dodgers. Right or wrong?

NicJ said...

man bulls just got screwed on a continuation call.

NicJ said...

i think everyone in LA expects more out of the Lakers, Karina.

Plus the dodgers season is still in its infancy.

NicJ said...

Kurt Rambis on lakers live. nice to see him again.

karina said...

@Nic J thanks.

One run, they have two innings to win this game.

NicJ said...

Monasterios, my second favorite Venezuelan.

Jason said...

@Sax - You should have used an image of a plane plummeting into the ground at the top of this game thread. It would have been a much more appropriate image for today.

karina said...

@Nic j who's your first?

By the way, Monasterios deserves way much more trust from Torre and Honeycutt

Jason said...

I must say, Jenrry may be my all time favorite personalized spelling of a common name, narrowly edging out Maquez for Max.

NicJ said...

Karina. haha.

I think he is earning more trust. He hasnt had too many blowups this year. Considering what the rest of the bullpen has done he is technically one of our top relievers.

karina said...

Henry Blanco is Monaterios' catcher in winter baseball.

By the way, Belisario was traded and now is teammate of Monasterios and Blanco.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

MONASTERIOS IS THE FUTURE OF THIS ORGANIZATION

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Fisher PG
Bryant SG
Artest SF
Gasol PF
Bynum C

NicJ said...

@Karina, why was he traded? did he have visa issues and had trouble getting back into Venezuela?

Jason said...

@MrLASP - Looks like Monasteris is the present of this organization, too.

Steve Sax said...

Charley and Rick really crack each other up.

karina said...

@nic j awwwwwww. Congrats, i'm blushing.

karina said...

@MrLASF you really like Monasterios.

@Nic J it seems he was traded because he was very problematic with the team he played last winter. I didn't know that and somehow i find that info intriguing and sort of explanatory of his tardiness for Spring Training.

He was traded for Maicer Izturiz and a couple of prospects.

Steve Sax said...

Steiner has a mancrush on anyone with bare forearms

karina said...

@Steve Sax at least they have each other because for what you and everyone else say no one finds them amusing.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Steiner has a crush on anyone who can make him giggle.

karen said...

This is just sad

NicJ said...

I hope Lebron sprains an ankle during his celebratory postgame Running man.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Stay on target, Monny.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

KKarlos!

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Well, Monny looked good. At least there's a part of this game that's respectable.

karina said...

They did scored a whole three runs on the same inning. That's improvement.

NicJ said...

what the hell bowa? holding XP up at third? ReallY?!

NicJ said...

NOW we get a sac fly.

NicJ said...

damn Mets errors. just end it already.

NicJ said...

Man it feels nice to get a call again. jump ball

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Now that the masochist suffering is over, let's get a Laker thread up, ASAP.

NicJ said...

thunder not sure what to do when they arent getting foul calls.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Great start. Really using that size advantage everyone talks about.

NicJ said...

finally we see westbrook knocked on his ass. maybe it will slow him down a bit.

karen said...

So nice to see a LA team playing well

NicJ said...

Hustle, baby.

karina said...

Good night everyone!

good luck to the Lakers!

rbnlaw said...

Karina!
Did you ever pick a bad day to reappear. This team could use some optimism. Dusty and I haven't been Misters Brighside and Silver Lining.

We have gone from suck to shit.

NicJ said...

Fuck collison and his drawing charge ability.

Josh S. said...

Man, Dusty missed out on some prime armpit-fucking today.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Mavs are killing the Spurs. Looks like Mark Cuban still has a reason to live...for now.

Steve Sax said...

At least these Lakers are showing some fight!

NicJ said...

lakers still not getting to the line.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Lakers win 2nd Q, and take a big 21-point lead.

Paul said...

The Dodgers are the Rockies of last year!!!!

Oh maybe not.

I didn't watch much of today's carnage but I am still sick about it. Doesn't seem like they have been on the road for a month?

Steve Sax said...

I do not understand the commercial with the death reaper that turns out to be a hot babe giving away tobacco samples.

I have never been at a sporting event where I've seen any hot band giving away free cigarettes. Have I missed these women all these years? How could that be?

Steve Sax said...

@Paul 9:05p: I hope you don't mean Jim Tracy is coming back to manage the Dodgers.

karen said...

Lakers making the darkness that was the Dodgers go away

Josh said...

The pic of Ely on the Dodgers main page is quite hilarious. He doesn't even have a hat!

NicJ said...

Yeah i saw that josh, like they just took a pic of him off the plane.

NicJ said...

Chickie Baby can put this one in the fridge.

Paul said...

Man the next series is a 4 gamer at home against the pirates.

They have to get healthy then right??!

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

You know you're winning big when Ammo's getting into a fight.

Spanky said...

That was an old-fashioned asswupping!

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Now we just go into OKC and silence the Thunder.

Fred's Brim said...

It was worse than it looked on TV. Colder, windier, worser, weaker, slower. The highlight, by far, was getting to meet SOSG poster koufax

Saxy, I didn't have the modern technology required to send a pic from the game, or to read the gamethread and see that a pic was requested. I am supposed to meet up with koufax again today - maybe he can send a pic of us crying in our beers

Dusty Baker said...

Who the fuck is John Ely???

Fred's Brim said...

The losing pitcher in today's Dodgers-Mets finale?
