Game 19 Thread: April 26 @ Mets, 4p

Will the Dodgers roar or meow today?

UPDATE: Rained out -- doubleheader tomorrow.

Hiroki Kuroda (2-0, 2.18) vs. Oliver Perez (0-2, 3.71).

Gameday

COMMENTS: Ah, the Mets. The Metropolitans (2010 payroll: $133 million) are right up there with the Cubs ($147 million) as other big-budget teams I like to look at when I start feeling bad about the Dodgers ($95 million). But as we've seen, past habits aren't holding up in 2010. The tied-for-last-place Dodgers are meeting a tied-for-second-place Mets team that has won four straight, including a sweep of Jason Heyward and the Braves.

But there's always a catch. Today, that catch goes by the name of Oliver Perez. The same Perez who started only 14 games in 2009 (ending up with a 6.82 ERA) after the Mets signed him to a three-year, $36 million contract. (Oliver, meet Odalis. Now meet Carlos. Everybody comfy? Good.) Can the Dodger bats, held to only five runs over three games in Washington, reawaken against the Mets' Perez? I'm going to say yes. In fact, Oliver hopes are riding on it.

Weak pitching. Strong bats. What could possibly go wrong?

If weather.com is accurate, the rain has already started and doesn't look like it will abate anytime soon.

if yahoo.com is accurate, the Phils just gave Ryan Howard an extension of $125 mil over 5 years

Was Perez the guy that came up with the Pads that used to be terrible, except when he played us? It was either him or Adam Eaton.

boooo rain! oh wait that means we will not lose tonight!!

Go rain!!

If they try and play every player will look like Padilla after one inning.

If sonsofstevegarvey.com is accurate, I need to get a life.

ok i am off to the game - wish me luck, either that it's completely dry for the whole game or that they call it early instead of waiting 3 hours to never throw a pitch

Good luck FB.

Game was just called. On the bright side that means we can't lose.

I'm using the time to finish next week's puzzle.

Prepare to be underwhelmed.

If Woody had gone to the police, this would never have happened.

D'oh, double-header GT tomorrow. Productivity drop forecasted.

So our pen gets a day of rest at the cost of having to pitch in 2 games tomorrow. Hmm.

Is the doubleheader wearing... nothing at all... nothing at all... nothing at all...?

So, two weeks ago we had Life, the Universe, and Everything Day and tomorrow we get a Zaphod Beeblebrox-er?

First a charter train and now a doubleheader. This is like olde time baseball.

I was reading TBLA, Eric is saying that the Mets have juggled their rotation. J Santana will pitch the early game and O Perez will go in the afternoon. Makes me sad....no John Maine :(

Soooo any good tv on tonight? I am not a big network guy so I might have to catch up on some reading or watch another episode of the wire for the 100th time.

Gosh darn it, this afternoon was the afternoon I had free and tomorrow I'll be busy. Oh well...time to scoreboard watch.

Pads are losing 1-0 in the second. Let's go Marlins.

Has FB swum back home yet?

I was back home before 7, so no big deal.

What's cool is that, since it's a regular doubleheader tomorrow, today's tickets can be exchanged for tickets tomorrow or any other game. I already have tickets for tomorrow, so I can pick some other game this season. It's like I get a free game out of it. Then again, it's a Mets game.
