A few weeks ago we proposed a throwback night at Dodger Stadium: no pre-recorded music, just the P.A. announcer and Nancy Bea Hefley's organ music. But we wondered, were we alone in this wish?
Not entirely. ESPN's Page 2 is running a poll regarding fans' noise level preferences at games (participate here), and the following results are telling:
1) Would you like to attend a major league game where the only noise is a P.A. announcer?
2) What do you think of song clips used to introduce a batter?
40.4% Like it
37.0% Doesn't bother me, but I'd rather talk to my friends
22.6% Don't like it
3) What do you think of music that is blared throughout a major league game?
75.4% Stop, please
24.6% Keep it coming, baseball needs a little more energy
Total Votes: 14,061
To summarize: Most people don't mind the P.A. announcer. Most people would rather not hear canned player introduction music. And most people don't like canned music between innings.
We rest our case.
