Chad Billingsley (4-6, 3.68) vs. Mike Pelfrey (2-6, 5.33).
COMMENTS: Billingsley looks to keep the Dodgers' winning streak alive (okay, it's only a one-game streak, but when you've lost six of the last eight, you'll take it), and the Dodgers try and see if their nine-run outburst last night carries any momentum into this afternoon's game. Given Joe Torre's penchant for mixing up the lineup, momentum will likely be lost. But at least we're going up against the Mets' version of Mark Hendrickson (a tall (6'7") pitcher with a losing record (6.08 ERA in May)). Maybe the Dodgers can keep their bats in with Pelfrey? (Wow, that was a stretch of a pun. Sorry.)

Diamond and Molly reporting rain in NY.
So is SOSG Karros
the theoretical lineup:
Pierre, LF
Kemp, CF
Kent, 2B
Loney, 1B
Martin, C
Ethier, RF
DeWitt, 3B
Maza, SS
Billingsley, P
Why mess with success?
What are the chances of picking the same first eight cards from a deck of 25?
Maybe Torre submitted the wrong lineup card; I can't imagine he tried to repeat yesterday's lineup.
Mark Sweeney should be able to answer that question.
Isn't it the inverse of [25! * 24! * 23! * 22! * 21! * 20! * 19! * 18!]?
Hey Orel, did you get my Pelfrey pun? Good times.
Truly original humor, it was.
Diamond says it's sunny now. Good news.
Wow. That was a hell of a break. Kemp should have been out at second, but he isn't, despite his incredibly bad baserunning. Again. He needs to learn a little more quickly for my tastes.
Dodgers up 1-0.
Great double courtesy by Kemp!
Dodgers 1-Mets 0
let's go blue!
I think they actually ruled it a single and an E-6. Kemp should have been out by a mile, but Reyes dropped the ball.
The catcher might have missed the tag on Kemp there. Hard to say. Might have gotten his back foot.
but he was out at home plate...(though it was a close call)
and then Martin gets a single...
Hello from Shea again... I ended up at this game too. Won't be checking in much though. Hope it doesn't rain. Go blue!
that was quick, only 10 pitches. Go Bills!
Karina, I know he's your guy and everything, and he's batting .281, but every time I see Maza, it seems he is bouncing into a double play.
I was going to say that I am really over Maza.
EK, glad you made it back to Shea (you probably realized it was more efficient to just stay over in Flushing rather than take the subway all the way back to Manhattan).
We want pictures from inside Citi Field!
Matt Kemp strikes out swinging. I feel like creating a macro for that. I feel like I type it quite often.
I'm pretty aware he's not even hitting as he should. He's made suffer throughout the years by playing brilliantly in winter baseball, winning a lot of championships, hitting double-walk off doubles right in front of my eyes, etc (because he seems to be very good at the Luis Aparicio).
You could argue it's winter baseball, but venezuelan people are very passionate and knowledgeable about baseball and sometimes we're as critical and demanding audience as Philadelphia and New York. He's carried himself in such situations.
But now he plays in a large market MLB team, it's not the same.
damn mlb.tv is blacked out :(
look what he did last January, on the third game of the final, playing in the left field, robbing a home run to the greatest hitter in the venezuelan winter baseball in the last twenty years, Robert Perez:

who called DeWitt as "DeClutch" in a game thread a few days ago?
Anyone want to tell me why Billingsley can't just swing away on a 1-2 count? Are we that worried about him GIDP that we'd rather see him strike out on bunts?
It would appear the fourth inning is going to be Chad's trouble spot this game.
How the heck did Chad escape that jam? Unbelievable.
And the Chad Billingsley high-wire act continues. He's thrown 75 pitches through five. 2-0 Dodgers.
We're winning but we should be giving Pelfrey a harder time. I don't see Chad going more than six.
Were those cheerleaders I saw in that YouTube clip?
Pelfrey with 93 pitches through six. Not good!
Billingsley only has two strikeouts through five innings, which is very low for him, obviously.
Charlie was talking about how Bills is landing awkwardly after his follow-through. Rain-related?
Chad heard me, so he struck out the first two in the sixth.
Bills heard you, Erin. Strikes out Beltran and Delgado. Maybe he will be going seven.
Jinx!
An 11-pitch sixth is just what the doctor ordered for Chadley.
He actually only needed nine, Orel, which is even better. 84 through six, so I think he should definitely be out there for the seventh, even though his spot bats second here in the sixth.
109 pitches for Pelfrey. His day is done, but he did a pretty good job.
Chad's teetering. 1st & 3rd, one out.
K for Chavez! (sorry we had a visit)
Yes, Orel, those were cheerleaders. They all over winter baseball.
This is quite an at-bat. Chad's last batter, no matter what, I guess.
And Chad wins the battle! He's been a magician today!
That was epic for Chad. Nicely done.
Karina, I'll be on the next plane over!
Welcome then!
Thanks!
It doesn't look like we're going to get that insurance run.
I'm genuinely worried about Broxton.
Ugh, Wright greets Broxton with a double.
And we're tied. Have I mentioned how happy I am that I sold high on Broxton in my fantasy league?
This is not fair to Bills. 3 pitches and suddenly the game is tied.
Wow, Broxton undoes Chad's entire day in four pitches. 2-2 tie.
Broxton is in my fantasy, too. I dropped Percival to have a place for him, i'm so stupid.
WHY WHY WHY does the bullpen fall apart when the starting pitchers do well? And vice versa?
Ugh! I'm surrounded by people standing and cheering.
Why are we IBBing Schneider?
Punch them, EK!
So Tatis could do damage to another Dodger reliever.
This is unbelievably depressing. I don't want to be negative, but I think that's the ball game, folks.
Tatis with the go-ahead RBI. This is humiliating.
Let's see if Beimel can keep the lead to one.
If you're still around, Erin—love your Wrigley dugout pictures!
I'm still here, Orel. Thanks! It was pretty cool to be in there. I've been meaning to take the Dodger Stadium tour, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
Bills doesn't deserve to lose these two games in a row. It's starting to get very depressing.
In the other hand, Erin, i loved your pictures (and you've got a beautiful smile)
and love your sneakers, too!
tomorrow they'll get Santana...
WTF is up with that strike zone?
Fire Joe Torre.
So much for the series split. Dodgers to go 1-6 on the road trip.
