COMMENTS: Have you ever seen a melting glacier? I'm told it's breathtaking. The beginning isn't easy to discern; maybe a few shards of ice breaking off here and there. But then larger chunks begin to plummet to the ocean, and then you become aware of a low thrum — the sound of a large implosion. Then slowly but surely the entire facade begins to crumble, and the structure of the thing becomes unstable. By now huge pieces are falling off in a deafening roar. And before you know it, you're looking at a once-majestic figure that's a mere shadow of its former self.
