Post-Game 112 Thread: Chimps Alive! Nats Lose!

DODGERS 8, NATIONALS 3

Jay Gibbons, who hasn't been in baseball since 2007 (with the Orioles), joined the Dodgers today (as Garret Anderson was FINALLY designated for assignment), and knocks in Ronnie Belliard on a single to center to put the Dodgers up 6-3.

I don't want to necessarily insinuate that Gibbons' hit in a 8-3 Dodgers victory was the dagger (though Ramon Troncoso getting only two outs and leaving two on in the ninth made it interesting; hopefully Kuo's elbow will survive consecutive-game outings). But it isn't every day a man named for a monkey gets a RBI. Here's to opposable thumbs, baby.

The Bull Moose still knocks em out, at least, when they aren't knocking them out.

Dammit, now I've confused myself.

Yankees v Red Sox on national TV tonight - holy shit! Can't get enough of those guys.

Sox and who on ESPN?

Gibbons shines at the Simeon Center. On to the Valley of the Apes.

And, as long as Lilly eats innings and posts W's, I'm keeping the avi.

Based on the phrase "a RBI", I take it Sax pronounces "RBI" as "run batted in."

Kyle Baker said...

Run(s) Batted In.

Never "RBIs." One area I even differ from Vinny on.

You bring up a good point fanerman. What would convention be?

Circumcised?

Thierry Henry is the happiest man in soccer at the moment. He is dominating MLS games right now.

No clue Sax. If I read "RBI", I usually think/say R-B-I. For plurals, I ended up thinking/saying R-B-I's (even though R-B-I by itself can have the plural be understood based on context).

This is the point where some stat-licker jumps in to tell us RBI are a useless statistics anyway, and that we shouldn't attach that much meaning to them.

This win was awesome!! Ted gets the W and Jay gets the call. He has been from indie ball, to Brewers AAA to Latin America and then New Mexico.

I now know three freakin people on this team!! Call me up Ned I can be the team Alchemist!!

I take the weekend off, and they win both? Is that a hint?

@Pat: Shows what you know. That wasn't even the last game!

Wait, the next one wasn't much better, was it?

Oh well, how are Utley, Victorino, and Howard doing?

Also this: "Oswalt revealed afterward that he is going through a 'dead arm' period that crops up every year."

Boy, you really snuck in there, thefightins. Like a Patrick Kane goal in overtime.
