Post-Game 115 Thread: Season Over. No Myth.

PHILLIES 10, DODGERS 9

So, she says it's time she goes
but wanted to be sure I know
she hopes we can be friends
I think, "Yeah, I guess we can," say I
but didn't think to ask her why
she blocked her eyes and drew the curtains
with knots I've got yet to untie

Completing today's Michael Penn reference with a sad coda. Thanks to a well-timed dinner party, I didn't have to watch the horrible ending to this game. But still, there are knots I've got yet to untie.

At least the pressure is off now. Now we can just play the spoiler role. Go Pod Rays!

I guess step one in that plan is to job to the Braves.

Le sigh.

Hell no. Drop 4 to the Braves and bury the Phyllises.

And I was totally on that No Myth tip today. Sang it twice to my kids.

They requested I stop. Ingrates.

Sax, you have made me addicted to Michael Penn.

Thank you.

Well we'll always have Sons of Steve Garvey fest. Go Nationals!

T. Jack is also bad at math:

"Kemp responded by going 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and a pair of two-run singles, giving him a season-high four RBIs."

Plaschke stirring shit up in his latest article. Interviewed kemps agent and was hinting that maybe a trade would be for the best.

What a horrible season.

Let me surmise what was the end of the season for your Los Angeles Dodgers.
Let us begin with what once again was another 2-sided coin effort by the centerfielder, one Matt Kemp. He drives in 2 runs in the first with a seeing-eye single. Later he homers to left with a man on. Then the inevitable happened when no. 27 failed to leave the batters box after he doinked a ball down the right field line because he apparently did not know where the ball was at (Guess the old adage of running hard to first until you hear the umpire shout foul never registered with our friend during Little League?). Instead of standing at second with a double he only manages to reach first and is unable to score when Carroll follows with a single, hence costing the team what turned out to be one more crucial run.
To the bottom of the 8th when Torre has our recovering substance abuser open up the inning in relief of Kuo. Big-belly-sorry-o proceeds to give up 4 runs, on 4 hits, along with a wild pitch, and a balk (the old fake to 3rd look to first move...except no one was on 3rd). Belisario fails to record an out, perhaps the white lines along the baselines were too much of a distraction for the poor fella? Nonetheless, a pitching line that would make anyone fall off the wagon and into a substantial drunken stupor.
To the 9th, and yes that means crime is a foot. The crime being Arson, the suspect, none other than Baby Huey himself. How could such a large man in stature possess so little in the way of cojones? Is he a eunuch? The Big Unit may have retired, but the Big Eunuch appears to be here to stay if Torre has his way. Anyways, Baby Huey, aka the Big Eunuch proceeds to elude the strike zone in typical fashion, and in between a Casey Blake boot, and a not so motivational Torre visit to the mound, he manages to have the only ball which reaches near the strike zone mashed by now Dodger nemesis, none other than the not so great, Carlos Ruiz.
It should be noted that no Man-Rams were harmed during this abortion of a baseball game.
Their you have it. They give up 8 runs in the final 2 innings and hence raise the white flag to what now is the end of a pathetic, under achieving, despicable season. Somewhere in the distance I can hear Nancy Bea playing taps on the Dodger Stadium Baldwin Organ. 22... Make it 23 years and counting.

Now that I think about it, framing the game thread around "Penn" as awfully prescient.

I refuse to quit on this season. I just can't.

Please Dodgers, give me something, anything to believe in.I don't want to feel delusional.

I can't root for other NL team. It's all wrong in my books.

Is it normal to feel sad this morning due to the Dodgers?also, is it normal to not know anything about Michael Penn?

KC,
In your mammoth post, you go to great lengths find fault with Kemp. Although he hasn't been Matt Kemp v.09, Matt Kemp v.10 is still pretty good. Coming close to blaming last night's loss on him seems desperate.

That loss falls squarely on the bullpen, the pitching coach, the manager, and the training staff (because someone is hurt and isn't saying anything).

So pissed off were we that we listed the rest of our season tickets for sale at below half the cost. Sucks ass the way we've been playing and I refuse to give up anymore of my $ to this year's organization.

I just read in my morning paper, the Dodgers might be interested in Victor Martinez, because they want to trade my son (*deep sigh*) in the offseason.

I thought it couldn't be so bad since V-Mart can hit but not catch(forget about getting someone out while stealing) but he can play first base too, we need a legitimate back up to King James, right?

Then I remembered he's too expensive and the Dodgers can't afford him.

*sigh*

Dusty Baker said...

I always thought VMart would be a good fit here. Wish we could pony up the cash. If they would give him #55, I could just take a marker and add an "EZ" to the end of "MARTIN" and already have a t-shirt for VMart.

Curse of Eric Collins 2010 Update

EC game record: 8-19
EC series record: 1-8 (Swept twice, but Eric is only responsible for 3/4 of the sweep in STL.)

The Dodgers have won ONE road series outside of the NL West. Brutal.
