Colletti Addresses Power Bat Void with Fernando Tatis

"Power bat? I got your power bat right here!"

So screamed Ned Colletti (allegedly), right after signing 32-year old Fernando Tatis to a minor-league contract with the Dodgers' organization. Tatis is most fondly remembered for hitting two grand slams in one inning against the Dodgers' Chan Ho Park on April 23, 1999. Park ended up pitching 2.2 innings against the Cardinals and gave up 11 runs, six of them earned.

What, Tatis was out of the game for two seasons, before playing with the Orioles in 28 games last year? And he may have never recovered from a 2000 groin injury?

"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain," Colletti replied.

Uh, yeah. So, about that power bat issue....

First Rudy "4+1 pitcher" Seanez, now Fernando "2 GS" Tatis.

Who's next, Mark "4 HR" Whiten?
