The Dodgers are in Pittsburgh today for the second leg of their east coast road trip. When we faced the Pirates in April, it was a 3-game sweep, but that was back when the Dodgers were on their season-opening tear. When the Dodgers took their June nosedive, however, they raced past the Bucs on their way down, so we now trail them by 3 games in the loss column. Barring the ideal outcome of winning the division, in the race for the at a wild card slots this year, a series victory here would be an enormous boon.
The last time we saw Karstens, Capuano out-dueled him for a 3-2 victory (and SoSG Stubbs' inaugural victory of the season), but he draws Harang's spot in the rotation this time around. Judging by his MLB.com profile photo, he appears to have been working on his intimidation factor for just this occasion.
