And The News Just Keeps Getting Better

Juan Uribe (who appeared in all three games and did not get a hit; he is 0-for-his-last-11 and hasn't had a hit since July) sucks. But we know that. What we've now learned, however, is that Jerry Hairston, the primary utility infielder we've got, is now out for the rest of the season. Talk about a bad hip check:

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers utility player Jerry Hairston Jr. will undergo surgery on his left hip in the coming weeks and miss the remainder of the season, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly announced Wednesday night.

Hairston has been on the disabled list since Aug. 12.

Hairston, 36, was batting .276 with four home runs and 26 RBIs in 78 games, and had played third base, second base, shortstop and left field.

Man, this is depressing. Almost as depressing as having to stare at this all night.

That sucks for Jerry, but before we had Hanley and Victorino on board, this would have been a lot worse.
