Chad Billingsley (6-9, 3.89) vs. Jeff Samardzija (7-8, 4.19).
Earlier in the week, I mocked the Dodgers' apparent strategy to depend upon Giants losses to keep us atop the NL West. Surprisingly, despite being swept by the Diamondbacks, the Giants lost three of four to the woeful Mets as well. So hey, that strategy may not be so bad after all! And we sit a mere half-game back of first.
So bring on the Cubs. We won't get a chance to see Ryan Dempster anymore (now that he's getting shelled in Texas), but hopefully this is the closest we'll have to get to the whiffosity of Alfonso Soriano. On our side of the trade deadline moves (or non-moves), perhaps Hanley Ramirez can notch his first hit at home tonight, or even Shane Victorino could get his first hit as a Dodger. Miracles could happen; so, I will be there at the Stadium tonight just in case. Drop a line if you want to grab a beverage.
