Post-Game 108 Thread: Padilla Holds Beacon, Offense Finally Follows Light

DODGERS 9. PADRES 0

Vicente Padilla had a no-hitter through six and pitched a complete game, two-hit shutout. Kinda tough for Torre to play any reindeer games with the bullpen when our starter pitches a CG, right? What's more, Padilla had two hits of his own at the plate (and an RBI!), which is a better night than the entire Padres lineup could muster.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers' bats woke up: Andre Ethier went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a 2-run HR, Ryan Theriot had 2 RBI (though he stupidly was running on contact from third base on a grounder to short, and his out at the plate prevented chicken wings for almost 49,000 ticket holders), and even Scott Podsednik got a hit to raise his Dodgers average to .179. Nine runs exceeded the Dodgers' output in the team's last four games combined. Let's hope we've still saved some runs for tomorrow's series finale.
