Post-Game 106 Thread: You'll Never Guess the Outcome

PADRES 10, DODGERS 5

Take it away, Associated Press!

The Padres increased their division lead over the idle San Francisco Giants to two games with their seventh victory in 10 games. The fourth-place Dodgers, whose sixth straight loss tied their longest skid this season, are a season-worst nine games off the pace after winning the last two division titles.

This game was a marathon of frustration. The Dodgers had 14 hits. The Padres had 14 hits. In the first three innings alone, the Dodgers left 300 men on base. It's true.

On the (barely) bright side, Matt Kemp went 5-for-5 with a HR and three RBIs, and George Sherrill made an appearance and didn't cause Dodger Stadium to collapse into Chavez Ravine. So there's that.

That, and no GAARP.

Baby steps.

So according to free credit report.com at the end of the year will the Dodgers have a credit score of a blind old man who just claimed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy?

At least Ethier has friends in the restaurant biz...

Time for some quick fix ideas, just for the hell of it.

-Move Blake and Theriot to the bench.
-Start Belliard at 3rd and Carroll at 2nd.

Defensively, that's an upgrade at second and a downgrade at third, but offensively it's a bit of an upgrade. Belliard can (maybe, possibly) get hot if he plays regularly and Carroll can get on base.

-DEE EFF AY GEE AY. I can't say this enough. Bring up Hoffmann until Manny is back.

-Stop relying on Weaver so much. The bong is empty.

That's all I've got for now.

HAH! The bong is empty. Maybe that big recent weed bust stifled DreamWeaver's supply.

Can't a SoSG reader help him out?

That was great to hear that Mario Batali is a Dodgers man. I'll appreciate him more now.

420 comments in the GT. Coincidence?

@Josh/Dusty

On that note, the GT tops out at 420.

Yeah, but comment #420 was my comment above, which I deleted and moved here after I saw the "PGT up" comment.

Ummmmm What is a bong?

Josh S. said...

Paul: It's the sound Torre's head makes when you hit it.

Paul said...

@Josh

then I want to hit the bong all the time!!

You know...Korean guy that used to pitch for the braves.

420 comment count counts in my book.

Especially since the channel I just flipped past was demonstrating how to grow hydroponic lettuce.

Belliard's been atrocious at the dish this year though.

Best move is to put Carroll at second, Paul in right, Ethier in left. Blake at third by default.

If only an elite defensive third baseman with the name Blake were still here....

Josh S. said...

You lost me at DeWitt being an "elite" third baseman.

We'll never know of the Maginot Line was really impenetrable or not, either.

Jose Elite?( pronounced E leet tay). Spanish traveler and famous bong craftsman.

The two episodes of Supernatural that I watched instead of the game were really good, by the way.

@Mr. C: I imagine not.

Wikipedia defines Bong as a smoking apparatus popularized by the Flaming Menudos.

Greg Zakwin said...

Elite defensively, bat would obviously be below average there, though he is patient and draws walks.

@Neeebs

your band has always set the trends. Water wings sales are through the roof.

So, the Dodgers now trail the Padres by the exact same number of games left to play against them. (9)

Not a whole lotta room for error there.
