Game 130 Thread: August 28 @ Rox, 5p

Chad Billingsley (10-7, 3.70) vs. Jhoulys Chacin (7-9, 3.98).

COMMENTS: Four-game win streak, tie with the Rockies for fourth place in the NL Wild Card hunt, and a dramatic victory last night. I'd like to feel more confident about this resurgent Dodgers team. However, Billingsley, who delayed his start one day due to an issue with his right calf, will be pitching in Coors Field, not exactly the most hospitable place for shaky pitchers. That doesn't exactly build up my confidence level much, even if we are facing Chacin (1-2 vs. the Dodgers this year).

At least I can take solace in the fact that Dinger is probably having some leg issues, too. That's gotta be a groin pull. (Dusty, this one's for you!)

Do you believe in miracles? Cause we sure need one!

karina said...

I believe,MB

Quoting Mulder: "I want to believe."

Dusty Baker said...

La Barba will hit a 5-run HR right here.

Meaniebreanie said...

Bring it on!

NicJ said...

i need a fantasy team name.

What about "CarGo is the Devil"

Dusty Baker said...

I LOVE ROD!

NicJ said...

HOT ROD!!!!!

Dusty Baker said...

@Nic

What about Up Jumped the Devil?

NicJ said...

ROWDY RODDY BARAJAS!!!!

MR. F said...

For all our jokes about him, Jamey Carroll has definitely been a bright spot this year.

Meaniebreanie said...

Is there a miracle on the way?

NicJ said...

i need to think about it. I typically spend more time on my team name than my draft.

Dusty Baker said...

Johnson follows Rod!

Dusty Baker said...

DAMMIT!

Meaniebreanie said...

Hoping Johnson goes long and deep.

Dusty Baker said...

Well said, MB.

karina said...

Hot-Hand Barajas!

karina said...

@NicJ that name rocks! be my guest :)

Meaniebreanie said...

@DB
Couldn't help myself. Well he did go long and deep but just couldn't deliver.

Dusty Baker said...

@MB

Enough about my prom night.

Meaniebreanie said...

@DB - I'm sure Mrs. Dusty would say that you made up for lost time. At least we all hope so :D

Dusty Baker said...

Exactly, MB. You live and learn.

Dusty Baker said...

INSTAPOLL

Which cigar should I smoke:

Expensive (e.g., Padron Anniversario)

Moderate (e.g., El Rey del Mundo)

Cheap-ass (scrape the humidor)

Meaniebreanie said...

@DB - just how buzzed are you?
Highly buzzed - cheap ass
Moderate - El Rey
No buzz - El Padron

Go for it!

Josh S. said...

Nice FU shot from RBar.

Meaniebreanie said...

@DB
BTW, if you EVER see MB smoke a cigar you will know that she is in the extremely to over the top buzzed category.

Meaniebreanie said...

I think I need a consolation drink with my fellow SoSG'rs. I hate losing.

NicJ said...

twitter is a lot more pleasant now that i gave MSTI the boot.

karina said...

@NicJ I'm thinking in doing the same thing.

karina said...

@Meaniebreanie come over, I have Margarita mix and tequila.

There's champagne and enough oranges to make mimosas

Meaniebreanie said...

Karina -
I would love to have a drink with you! I have been to Caracas but that is as close as I have been to you. You are welcome at my house any time. I have a wide variety of wine, champagne, but most of my hard liquor is gone thanks to friends. I'm sure we will meet one day and collect our drinks : )

karina said...

@Meaniebreanie of course we'll have a chance to do that :)

did you like Caracas?

Dusty Baker said...

I'm only moderately buzzed, MB. Nice pasta dinner I whipped up during the game and some french rose' > spanish granache. HOWEVER, I plan on switching to Scotch given the loss and my anger over the b.s. ump decision to toss Belli. I'm thinking the mid-range cigar is the way to go.

Meaniebreanie said...

@Karina,
I wasn't there very long but it reminded me of some very large metropolitan cities such as New York and Madrid. There were parts that were beautiful and other areas that were very impoverished. It truly made me grateful for everything I have in life.

Dusty Baker said...

THIS is the kind of stat I love:

Tonight was 58th time since moving to LA that #Dodgers had more HR allowed (2) than strikeouts (1)

--TBLA

[I mean the stat concept not the implication for shittiness]

Dusty Baker said...

At least the Angels are losing - to Orioles!

MR. F said...

I could REALLY go for some good pasta.

karina said...

@Meaniebreanie when did you come here?.You're right, the poor neighborhoods there are depressing.

However, it's a good place to eat, drink and party.

Did you try venezuelan rum/beer?

karina said...

I want something sweet, something with lots of sugar and fat.

Meaniebreanie said...

@Karina,
It was about 5 years ago. And yes,I tried the rum. It was excellent. I'm not much on beer unless it is the only thing to drink.

I do like the ABC islands as I am a scuba diver. I really enjoy diving in Bonaire but usually stick there instead of going into Venezuela.

Dusty Baker said...

How about a bacon mojito, Karina?

Meaniebreanie said...

Karina - sweet, sugar, and fat. Sounds like a Pina Colada to me or good ole ice cream.

Steve Sax said...

At least the Giants are losing again

Meaniebreanie said...

Sax - you made it! People were wondering where our sons were. Better late than never.

karina said...

@Dusty I can't stand the taste of bacon,ewwwww

@Meaniebreanie you are a scuba diver!wow!.I love rum, to my father's chagrin.

karina said...

There's no ice cream here or anything sweet for that matter :(

karina said...

@Steve Sax were you like Mr C, solving puzzle(s) all day long?

Josh S. said...

I have leftover birthday cake.

Meaniebreanie said...

@Josh,
If distance weren't a factor I'm sure Karina and I would take you up on that. Who doesn't love birthday cake?

Dusty Baker said...

I have to admit I'm addicted to this Katy Perry California Gurls song as my designated summer song. Love the proud CA love she exudes, but then I heard something about her favorite baseball team:

Meaniebreanie said...

Mr.LASF - I'm trying to sign up. What's the name of your league?

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

That should be the link.

Dusty Baker said...

Can Country Grammar be the theme song for our NFL fantasy league? I just had to listen to that 3 times in a row for old times' sake.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

Draft is on Monday at 7 if you do join, Meanie. I wanted to pick a time when I would hope most of us would be on a computer.

rbnlaw said...

WTF? They lost?
Crap. I was busy drinking and eating ribs.

I'll try to pay more attention.

Meaniebreanie said...

Mr. LASF - I received confirmation of registering but I don't see it on the site. I am new to all of this so I will need coaching. I will make sure that I am logged on at 7:00 PST to do what we need to do. Because I don't know what I'm doing we will probably win. That happens to me all the time in Vegas : )

Dusty Baker said...

@RBN

How does one drink ribs?

Dusty Baker said...

Sabado Gigante on the telly...life is good.

Dusty Baker said...

Delino needs to get in on some of dis fantasy football action.

So we can kick his bitch-ass around.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

You still haven't shown up, Meanie. Are you sure you've fully registered?

NicJ said...

Team name activated

prepare for doom

Meaniebreanie said...

I thought I did although I am in a somewhat altered state. I received email confirmation. I will check on it tomorrow morning and if it doesn't show I will try again.

Since you are a SAINTS FAN, I will try to post a picture for you of the new Super Bowl ring if it doesn't reveal too much of me. They are very cool!

NicJ said...

Kobe in an angels jersey.

(cries)

Dusty Baker said...

No, Kobe, No. Boooooooooooo!

Love seeing Fish on DodgerVision at the Yard, though.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

I thought Kobe was a Dodger fan! What happened? WHAT HAPPENED?!?!

Dusty Baker said...

Yeah, Kobe has always has this Angels thing. It's his inner scared white boy who likes the clean cut, so-called family friendly atmosphere.

I heard him one time years ago say he hates baseball, so I don't really care anyway. He said this after Angels won WS and he had some product placement tie-in crap he had to go to.

Except that I wish he were an LA fan. The kind actually from LA.

MR. F said...

Kobe does live in the OC, right?

NicJ said...

Who else is playing fantasy?

Josh, RBN, MR C, MR F, Sons?

NicJ said...

Im totally taking big ben as my QB.

Wait, how many points is a sexual assault worth?

NicJ said...

we got one more!!

this is exciting.

Dusty Baker said...

@Nic

It is exciting. Technically, it's the high point of my day. *sighs, stares at feet*

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

6 spaces left!

MR. F said...

I'll join if you guys need another player.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

There's still more than a day before the draft. Don't feel obligated, Mr F.

Mr. Customer said...

Ah, bollocks. I'll sign up when I get home.

Mr. Customer said...

One more in.

NicJ said...

looks like i have jason in week one. You are going down, Deltalina.

Dusty Baker said...

Looks like I have Neeebs' mom in week one.

Paul said...

Finally back. I am full of wine and food and happy the giants lost.

Paul said...

Need to sign up for the fantasy league.

Dammit my team's name was going to be Neeebs mom!

Mr. Customer said...

If I'm Neeebs' mom, there's some weird temporal distortion shit going on 'round here.

Paul said...

Does this mean I have to call my team "next to neeebs mom"?

Dusty Baker said...

If someone doesn't name their team "Neeebs' Mom" I'm moving to Laughlin.

Mr. Customer said...

It's all yours Paul. Dusty's just questioning my manhood.

Paul said...

Once I get to a normal comp. Trying to sign onto this thing on the iPhone is tricky.

Spanky said...

Answer sent

rbnlaw said...

1. I'm not much of a fantasy football guy. I'll be rooting for Neeebs' mom on the sidelines.

2. @DB,
Blenders work wonders; even on ribs. Actually, I was in a class in Burbank most of the day and got to my neighbors BBQ late. I did manage about 10 spare ribs (awesome, BTW) and 4 beers before settling in at home.

Dusty Baker said...

Mr C, I would never question your manhood. I already know the answer.

Meaniebreanie said...

@Spank - you are dreaming. If I don't know him, I'm not going to pick him. If possible either Drew Brees or Tony Romo for me.
