Clayton Kershaw (10-6, 2.94) vs. John Lannan (2-5, 5.63).
COMMENTS: The Dodgers leave the (once-) friendly opponents of the NL West and play an opponent from the NL East, against which the Dodgers are a paltry 8-12. But these are the Nationals! You know, the worst team in their division (who took two of three from us earlier this year); and, we won't even see their best pitcher this series (Stephen Strasburg hit the DL with a stiff shoulder last week and is scheduled to return Tuesday).
Instead, we start the series against John Lannan, a 22-35 lifetime pitcher with a 4.19 ERA. I imagine there won't be many mind games on Torre's behalf with regards to the lineup composition; he's more content to be watching the wheels. But if he felt (just like) starting over, might I suggest that we take Jeff Weaver off the DL and give him a start one of the three games in this series--in right field. I know, it may just be a #9 Dream of mine. But all I am saying, is give Weav's a chance.
