Final PCS Rankings and Prizes and Bad Maps!

FINAL PCS RANKINGS

To nobody's surprise, UBragg dominated the last 3rd of the puzzle season and clinched the season ending standings by solving the Grand Finale Puzzle while at a luau feasting on roast suckling pig.

More interesting was the battle for 2nd place and the other prize spot. Over the last 3rd of the season, 4 puzzlers occupied #2: mr customer, bwrightson, josh s, and keven c. In the end, it was josh s who edged out drewdez.

Congratulations to UBragg and Josh S for their expert puzzling. Here are the final rankings:

PRIZES

So UBragg, here are your two prize options:

  1. A Rafael Furcal Bobblehead of the type pictured below, courtesy of SoSG Sax:
  2. The opportunity to create a puzzle next season (you know the drill UBragg).

UBragg, send us an email or comment here to let us know which one you want. Josh S gets the unselected prize. Congratulations once again! And thank you all puzzlers for your participation this season. I hope you've enjoyed solving the puzzles as much as Sax, Orel, and myself have had thinking of and creating them.

BAD MAPS

And finally, a few of you commented on your map-making abilities through the course of the puzzle. Here's Dusty Baker's:

I especially like the various Norwegian translations scribbled off in the corner. And in terms of sketching a properly-oriented compass - you crushed it, Dusty. I assumed it helped you correctly draw that arrow in the southwesterly direction.

If anyone else has a map they want to submit, feel free to do so (karina?...)

PCS #1-8, what heady days those were!

I drew that arrow in a SE direction actually now that I look at it again (the post says SW). Who needs a map??? ;-)

You're right, Dusty! That was not intended. See, I should have used your map...

EK:

A very pissed off Grue jumps out of nowhere and devours you.

Would you like to start over, restore a saved position, or end this session of Zork? (Type RESTART, RESTORE, or QUIT):

I had no patience for adventure games unless they at least had rudimentary graphics.

Like the puzzle.

Kyle Baker said...

The greatest adventure game ever, though, was the Assassins' Circle.

This was a hell of a good time. Congrats to all the puzzle creators and solvers for a job well done.

Also...

Raffy's bobblehead looks a lot like Shane Victorino (about the same height too!)

FB-

Hopefully Kuroda won't throw at its head, then.

No game, no puzzle. I might be going into withdrawal.

Either way works, Karina!

PSH. I made my map in Excel.

Eric Karros said...

And to think I was neck and neck with J Steve for a good part of the season. (Remember, you were my something-or-other earlier in the year. Match-up or avatar or something.) Well done, J!

I'm equally happy with either prize - it was a lot of fun to write a puzzle, and the bobblehead looks awesome. Since I've already had the pleasure of choosing, I am going to defer to Josh S to choose first and will take whatever he doesn't choose.

If I end up writing another puzzle, I promise to make it easier than my first one. :)

Josh S. said...

I don't think not choosing was one of the choices, Ubragg,

I'm kidding. OK, I will choose the puzzle. The bobblehead is indeed awesome, but I was already under the assumption you'd pick it since you've done a puzzle.

Plus, I have MONTHS to come up with a puzzle. I think I can come up with something worthy in that time.
