Eric Stults (2-1, 5.50) vs. Doug Davis (2-3, 2.91).
COMMENTS: Fresh off of the euphoria of a four game slamdown on the division rival Padres, the Dodgers have rolled to a perfect 10*-0 home start to break the franchise record for consecutive home wins to start a season, tying the NL record in the process (with three other teams). It's going so well, we can start a lineup with four second-stringers and see three of them produce at the plate (the only one to go hitless, the 0-for-3 Mark Loretta, is still batting .391 on the year).
So what better way to jinx the streak than to have SoSG's own Alex Cora and Steve Sax show up to the Stadium in person? (Third base side, field level--please comment in the thread if you'll be at the game, and we can arrange a time to grab a beer, assuming they've restored wireless service to the Ravine.) Perhaps having a greater impact on the outcome of the game will be our starter, Stults, who got rocked in his last outing in SF (5 ER in 2.2IP, with 2BB and 1K). Stults will need to rebound well (kind of like that other LA team playing tonight in Game 1 of their own series). And I've always dug Davis get it?, who is coming off of a strong start of (0ER over 7IPs with 7Ks) pitched against the Cubs. Either Stults or Davis might have a slightly bigger impact on the outcome of tonight's game. But the guys who will be getting into Mark Reynolds' dome all night (ARI 3B Reynolds has 5HR but 26Ks and bats .268)? Yeah, that will be AC and me.
*Yes, I know I could have used a myriad of other references for the accompanying "perfect 10" picture. I'm trying to keep us somewhat respectable. For once.

I don't like closers in the game in non-save situations. Particularly ones who have been as overused as Broxton this early in the season.
Vinny said one of my favorite lines he ever said last year at an appearance with John Wooden: "The Lakers, God bless 'em - The Dodgers lost to the Padres yesterday 7-2, and all anyone can talk about is the Lakers."
Torre shoulda brought in Brent Leach's wife's blog to pitch the 9th.
LA is a star-driven town. All the stars are at the Laker games. Thats why Manny is loved so much.
What does a slider look like to the batter?
Yet another reason I don't fit into the typical "L.A." mold, I guess.
true orel.
Leach's wife, she's...uh, got an...intereting blog.
If Dodger tickets were harder to get, more stars would go to Dodger games.
Brox looks alive!
you're saying pat sayjak isnt a star?
And I missed 411. crap.
Broxton's body is starting to look like that Canadian amish closer we used to have.
GAME OVER MAN
Thats true Orel. Wait 'til they get to the World Series. Will start to see the big names.
I prefer Alyssa Milano to Dyan Cannon, frankly.
Bravo! Post-Game Thread is up.
Oh, cmon fellow Dodgers fans. Give credit where it's due - los Doyers aren't pulling in 3 mil + in attendance every year because they're barely relevant in the LA sports scene. Maybe the Lakers are the main event, but, uh, pardon the lame McCourt-sponsored marketing campaign reference... this is DODGERTOWN baby!
Dianne Canon is like C-List
Pierre's looking perplexed.
Wife, dog, baby all asleep.
Time to get some work done.
Good night you Princes (and Princesses) of Los Angeles. You kings of Southern Cali.
(And to you New England types as well).
Alyssa Milano is a Baseball groupie
Cannon was a star once, and a hell of a comedic actress.
I know there are bigger stars at Laker games. I was being facetious.
I just wanted to chime in and state, for the record, that Bo Derek attended the same high school from which I graduated.
And Alyssa Milano is a Dodger fan. Let's not disparage her here.
And now I'm off to bed. Go Dodgers!
joan jett went to my highschool, and willy shoemaker.
HA!
Dr. Geek, did you make out with her behind the portables?
Nic, did you...never mind.
shoemaker once. he kept hitting me with that little whip thing though.
"Orel said...

I can't recall, seeing how I had yet to make my way through the fallopian tube.
Nice.
