Game 91 Thread: July 14 @ Giants, 12.55p

Dodgers start Derek Lowe, RHP (8-8, 3.12) vs. Matt Morris, RHP (7-5, 3.55).

Dodgers: 50-40 (T-1st place NL West, W2)
Giants: 38-49 (5th place NL West, 10.5 GB, L2)

From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:

Dodgers: That ERA indicates Lowe has nothing to be ashamed of this season, as he's mostly been the victim of low run support and bad luck. There's a lot to be said for taking the ball every five days, year after year, and delivering quality start after quality start. He wasn't quite up to the task in his last start before the break, getting roughed up for four earned runs on 10 hits by the Marlins, but he was the only Dodgers starter to take it into the seventh inning that week.

Giants: Morris was shaky in his last outing before the break, allowing six runs in six innings against the Reds. He has just one quality start in his past four starts and has seen his ERA rise to the highest it has been this season. Morris has been a much better pitcher at home (2.60) than on the road (4.45) this year. He has been solid against the Dodgers (1-0, 3.68 ERA) but is 4-5 with a 5.24 ERA lifetime.

Fox Game of the Week!

And we're halfway to our stop #2, Yankees at Tampa Bay!

Bonds grounds into his 3rd DP in last 5 AB's vs Dodgers.

Fox game of the week sucks, esp if you live outside of the LA area - plus I can't watch it on MLB mosaic cuz of the blackout. Guess it is audio and gameday for me!

Dodgers break it open in the fifth, batting around! Jacks from Betemit and Kent (the latter a three-run homer) make it 6-0.

LOB tally: Bonds 6, Dodgers 5.

Why tsao wasn't lifted before Winn's jack is beyond me.

Eric Karros said...

Tsao on earth did we let this game go from 7-2 in the eighth to extra innings?

And now Grady subs Hendy, who pitched two scoreless, for Rudy? WTF?

Steve Sax said...

Okay, maybe Grady was right.

And Lowe is denied yet another win.

Meanwhile, 3-1 Rays in the third--ad it's sold out here.

This is a F'n frustrating game. We would have not been in this situation had it not been for a botched double play in the 8th inning. Unbelievable. Our defense is horrific and Grady does not know how to handle pitchers. WTF!

Go dodgers--the winning the streak for the dodgers at SF continues.

Wow, my grammar and spelling has been awful on this trip. Sorry.
