Game 86 Thread: July 5 vs. Braves, 7.10p

Dodgers start Brad Penny, RHP (10-1, 2.00) vs. Tim Hudson, RHP (8-5, 3.18).

Dodgers: 48-37 (2nd place NL West, 0.5 GB, L1)
Braves: 44-41 (2nd place NL East, 3.0 GB, W1)

From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:

Dodgers: Penny, named to the All-Star team for the second consecutive season, fired another quality start at the Padres in a duel with Jake Peavy, but had to settle for a seven-inning no-decision. He still shares the league lead in wins and has the best ERA of any starter in the league. The Dodgers are 14-3 in his starts this year and he's allowed only two home runs.

Braves: After going winless in his first four June starts, Hudson won his past two and put himself back on the successful track he navigated during the season's first six weeks. His first loss of the season came on May 5, when he surrendered three earned runs in eight innings against the Dodgers. It was the first time in eight career starts that he had lost to them. The 31 year-old right-hander has worked at least seven innings and allowed fewer than two runs in three of his past four starts.

From Inside the Dodgers:

Furcal, SS
Pierre, CF
Martin, C
Kent, 2B
Gonzo, LF
Nomar, 3B
Loney, 1B
Ethier, RF
Penny, P

Last night’s game was not how it looked on paper. Glad we escaped with a series split. Now on to San Diego where you all can become Braves fan again.

SoSG has been infiltrated by the #2 all-time Braves HR king. Maybe he's just sore about getting eclipsed last night by Larry.
