Game 101 Thread: July 24 @ Astros, 5.05p

Dodgers start Mark Hendrickson, LHP (4-5, 4.54) vs. Jason Jennings, RHP (1-6, 4.76).

Dodgers: 56-44 (1st place NL West, 2.0 GA, W1)
Astros: 42-57 (T-4th place NL Central, 13.0 GB, L1)

From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:

Dodgers: Pitching on two days' rest after a earning the win in a two-inning relief appearance, Hendrickson's start against the Phillies on July 17 did not go well. He was charged with seven runs on 11 hits in three-plus innings, which not only cost the Dodgers the game, but put an additional strain on an already taxed bullpen.

Astros: Jennings was ineffective in his last outing on July 18, allowing seven runs on eight hits over five innings in a loss to the Nationals. Jennings' biggest downfall was his walks -- all four batters who drew free passes ended up scoring. Jennings has won only once this year, and that was more than a month ago. Since defeating the Angels on June 19, Jennings has lost five games in a row.

HR by Kent ties it up at 1-1. How long can he stay hot?

Nomar draws a walk. Don't see that too often.

Loney is batting .485 with RISP.

And Loney hits a double off the wall, missing a HR by 3 ft. Lee misplays it so Gonzo scores.

Loney knocks 'em in, again.

Ethier grounds out but scores Nomar and advances Loney to third. 3-1 Dodgers.

Lurch is up, so Loney will be stranded...

Lotsa beard action going on in GameCast.

Hopefully it's Amanda Beard...

Lurch is in trouble early in the sixth. He leaves with two RISP that would tie the game...

Seanez with a 1-2 count pitches his fourth straight breaking ball and Ensberg doubles to tie the score. Come on, Rudy!

Tied at 3 in the sixth, no out.

Rudy pounces on a bunt to force a man at third. One out, men at first and second. Not in the clear yet...

Seanez, you suck.

GS to Biggio. Dodgers down 7-3.

Seanez balancing his luck. He'd been solid for a spell, up to now.

Padres up 3-0 in the 4th. Looks like the lead is back down to 1.

Grady's continual attempts to coax as much as possible out of each pitcher is leading to the same crap that got him run out of Boston. Seanez was off from the start tonight and should have been pulled; Biggio slammed the first pitch, a meatball down the center.

Then on the other side, with two out and a man on 2nd he brings up Saenz. Basically a by-the-book move; the 'stros know not to pitch a fastball. And Saenz grounds to third, stranding Ethier.

Grady has got to find some new strategies to employ, as everyone knows his tricks.
