Game 11 Thread: April 17 vs. Gigantes, 1p

Charlie Haeger (0-0, 3.86) vs. dum-da-duhhh Tim Lincecum (2-0, 1.29).

Gameday

COMMENTS: The Knuckler goes against the Cy Youngster today, and after last night's bullpain (thanks, Josh S.) performance, don't you think Joe Torre will let Haeger pitch a complete game, no matter the score? And who can get used to an all-hit, no-pitch Dodgers team? It's like a McDLT with a cool patty and warm lettuce. All wrong!

So Manny gets a day game off after a night game even if he only plays half? Or is something more ominous at work here?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Carroll at short? I suppose it was going to happen sooner or later.

Greg Zakwin said...

Mr.Customer- Tight right calf, they're intelligently playing it safe.

Carroll is perfect at short. Peripheral vision!

Nostradamus said...

He'll be looking runners back to second and third simultaneously!

Kyle Baker said...

Roll call: Dusty checking in from the Yard.

I hate the giants!

Wesley Vento said...

no raffy :(

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

It's a lineup halfway between "It's Lincecum, so we're going to lose no matter what" and "let's stick guys in who know how to take pitches."

karen said...

Here we go again. Good luck everyone

This Is My Town - Zenyatta? #jumpedtheshark

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I don't like how Timmeh is the selling point for this game.

Nostradamus said...

Some innings, you look up and wonder how they didn't actually score.

karen said...

Tim Lincecum looks like a vampire

rbnlaw said...

@HLACK:
You didn't get mixed up in any of that Elysian Park round-up business on Opening Day, did you?

@DB
Give anyone in black and orange Hell!
Avenge me, DB! Avenge me!!

Greg said...

Gameday is apparently stuck on the Panda's AB.

Greg said...

Looks like it caught up.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

OMG Timmeh walked someone!

Steve Sax said...

Not the A team for us today

rbnlaw said...

First beer on board. Many to follow.

@Sax:
Yeah, we're on national TV and we play the B squad. The rest are in Peoria playing the Cubs.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

It's okay, everyone. Stay calm. Timmeh's at 18 pitches right now. If we can get more innings like that, he'll be outta here before you know it.

rbnlaw said...

Oh, and yes, I read about Manny's calf. Here's hoping he doesn't have a cow.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

The knuckleball is not cooperating with Haeger.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Good try by Carroll, but a bad throw by Haeger takes away the DP.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Aw fuck.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

This just isn't looking good.

karen said...

I HATE the Giants...They're just evil

Steve Sax said...

This is looking bad

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

One more strike to Kentucky Fried Panda.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Siddown, you fat piece of bamboo meat.

Nostradamus said...

Those are possibly the worst two innings I've ever seen that result in 1 run or less.

Steve Sax said...

This sucks

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Boy we suck.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

At least if we're going to play like shit on defense and have Haeger throw the worst game of his career, we do it when we'd probably lose anyway.

Steve Sax said...

Fucking A, Haeger

karen said...

Ellis did not hustle on that wild pitch

Steve Sax said...

Wow, Ellis blocked one

Nostradamus said...

Ok, it ain't happening.

Would it be to much to ask for no perfecto/no-no for Timmeh?

Steve Sax said...

Thanks, Jamey!

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

There is no perfecto. Ethier walked in the first, remember?

Nostradamus said...

@MLASF

That is fortunate. Sorry, late to the party here. I hereby officially curse the no hitter then.

NicJ said...

Wow. Just checked in on it. When you really think about it this was a loss anyways. Just let Haeger go as long as he can. Why waste the bullpen.

Kyle Baker said...

My only options left are to boo or raise a hullabaloo. Mrs Dusty says the hullabaloo option is a non-starter.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Well it worked, Mr. C.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

DO ME PROUD, MONASTERIOS

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

MONASTERIOS = GOLD GLOVE

NicJ said...

Just throw strikes.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

What the hell happened to our defense?

Kyle Baker said...

In between innings bloopers reel just showing clips from earlier in the game.

NicJ said...

Did they show Russ Ortiz signing his Dodgers contract too?

Kyle Baker said...

Bloopers showed Jamie McCourt shagging some security guard by the pool.

NicJ said...

Lincecum has more hits than the dodgers. Haha

karen said...

Vin would find a way to make this less painful. He'd tell us a story or something

Josh S. said...

WHAT IS GOING OOONNNNNNNNN???!!!!

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Hey, so far a scoreless outing for Monasterios!

KEEP HIM. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS RIGHT IN THE WORLD KEEP HIM.

Kyle Baker said...

Whatever happens, Zack Greinke still has a tiny head.

Kyle Baker said...

More fights in the stand than Dodger hits. And there haven't been many fights.

Josh S. said...

Woooo. Timmah's got nothing left! Let's do this!

NicJ said...

It's like lincecum let two men on just to screw with dodger fans. Knowing he could just strike the next two guys out.

Kyle Baker said...

"your attention please. Now pitching for the Dodgers, Ramon Ortiz"

*shoots self*

Danielle said...

well, of the two R.Ortiz's, this would be my first choice...

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

The DFA-o-meter is really starting to tilt towards Russ.

Josh S. said...

Wow, Dusty. You get to see Ramon Ortiz pitch live and in person twice in one week, you lucky bastard.

Josh S. said...

In happier news, my son now has his own Ethier t-shirt. Thanks, Babies-R-Us!

Steve Sax said...

Two errors?

Thanks for showing up, Dodgers

Steve Sax said...

Dusty: go hit the bullpen and get warmed up, we need you today

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

At the very least, we've been really pissing off Joe West this week.

Josh S. said...

"At the very least, we've been really pissing off Joe West this week."

Or, as he's known on ESPN: Joe.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

The dial tilts a little bit back towards Ramon.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Maybe it's time for you to shut up, Rose.

Paul said...

Nothing worse than a blow out beating and having to listen to Steiner on the 99. I must have yelled 10 times "what just happened!?!? Stop calling every other pitch!!"

Josh S. said...

I know Karros has to be objective as a broadcaster when he calls a Dodger game, but I think he goes a little too far in the other direction. Everything is either a backhanded compliment or a dig.

NicJ said...

Well at least Sherrill looked good.

Nostradamus said...

Oh, now Breezy figures it out!

If he implodes next time there's something really on the line, my head could very well explode.

NicJ said...

Speaking of announcers. Whoever does the color for the giants is just terrible. Very Rex Hudleresque.

Nostradamus said...

Gott in Himmel, I detest the Giants.

Josh S. said...

Please no shutout.
Please no shutout.
Please no shutout.
Please no shutout.
Please no shutout.
Please no shutout.

Paul said...

Rowand looked okay.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Ellis double. Just in time, too.

Paul said...

I think Russ can survive one at bat EK

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Oh just send him. What the hell do we have to lose.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

So this is what the first shutout loss of the season feels like.

I don't like it.

Paul said...

That was the crappiest game I have seen in a week.

Nostradamus said...

I don't much care for it either, though it does lessen the stench from the bullpen, somewhat.

Orel said...

Sad, listless PGT up.

NicJ said...

Anytime I see a game that sucks I remind myself of this, at least it wasn't as bad as that 86 pitch CG shutout that Jason Marquis handed last year. At least this loss was to the reigning Cy Young/future yankee Tim Lincecum.

Steve Sax said...

Well at least it was close.
