Aaron Harang (1-2, 5.72) vs. Travis Wood (0-0, -.--)
Today features a rubber match with the Cubs before our boys head back home. Here's hoping Harang can bounce back from his poor performance in Colorado. It should be easy pickings for the offense against Travis Wood, who will be making his Cubs debut today. Or Wood might be fired up for the start and pitch the game of his life. Or the baseball gods may mistake him for Kerry Wood and curse him with a long-term arm injury.
Dodgers will need a victory to be able to call the current roast trip a relative success, though that may be a bit of a stretch, and it would be nice to have a bit of momentum coming into what will be a tough home stand against the Giants. A win would also keep pace with MLB-leading Rays (19-9).
Best of all, this will be the last game (for awhile) that starts while most of us are still eating breakfast.
UPDATES: A little bit of a rain delay, but nothing serious. However, there is some bad news about Matt Kemp. Reportedly, a tight hamstring means Matty is scratched from the lineup, thus ending the longest active streak of consecutive games at 392.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: Kemp is available to pinch hit today.
YET ANOTHER UPDATE: Per @ESPNChiCubs, "Rain stopped but more storms building to west. Could be long day. Dodgers don't return...so they'll wait as long as possible"
GUESS WHAT THIS IS. AN UPDATE!: Appears getting the game in today is going to be difficult, and if it happens it will be later in the day. BUT we have hockey on now. Let's use this thread to comment and root on the Kings!

Oh wow. I feel bad for our old friend; he could never catch on full time anywhere despite some potential.
Potential doesn't win championships!
Dewitt always had the prettiest, ineffective swing.
Poor guy.
I'm always eating breakfast.
UPDATE: We're in a rain delay
Of course there is a delay. I finally get a chance to watch the game on the Dish. Stoopid rain.

Delay? More time for breakfast!
Maybe we should listen to Rubber Soul.
Snakes down 3-0 to the mets
Go Kings Go! Puck drop seconds away.
Rain delays suck, but I can watch the Kings game without having to flip channels. Go Kings GO!!!
@Cliff
I just updated the GT to reflect the Kings game. It's official!
cc: Nic, Marla, Neeebs
KINGS!
Kings score!
@Cubs: The tarp is back on the field, as more rain is expected to hit the area shortly. There is no set start time.
Kings!
God dammit. That goal was out of nowhere.
Ugh, bad goal.
FUCK
Richards waited too long to pass it to Penner.
OH MY GAWD RICHARDS!
Not how to run a 2-on-1.
Fight! Fight! Fight!
Why did he wait so long to pass (or shoot)? It's like watching Arsenal.
cc: RBN
Not a good penalty to take now.
AAAHHHH! Nice save by Elliott. FUCK!
Blues still 0-for-the-series on the PP.
Wow!
SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay! Bad goal!!
Quick has been awesome, but Brown gets my vote for MVP of this series.
2-1 at the end of the first period. We got this!
Important Beastie Boys post just went live on the SoSG main page.
Did NBC just use Sidney Crosby's picture for Jordan Nolan?
I listened to "Whatcha Want" on my way home from brunch this morning. Still one of my favorite songs ever.
I'm unearthing my Beasties CDs for this week. Thanks for the post Dusty.
Keselowski in the lead at Talladega
(checks for any crossover play)
(finds none on SoSG)
Nice play by Nolan! If only Stoll coulda stuffed it in Nolan woulda had the Gordie Howe hat trick.
@Cliff
I only learned what a Gordie Howe was last night at the bar. Then I heard the reference to it just now on the telecast. Love the concept.
Right on, Sax.
Also check out this Coldplay tribute to MCA:

Looks like they're going to try for a 2pm PDT start to this here baseball match.
Giants up 2-1 in the first
Rox down 4-0
@Dusty 1:23p: not sure what to think of Coldplay covering the beasties. Here's gawker's take
http://m.gawker.com/5907938/heres-the-coldplay-tribute-cover-of-the-beastie-boys-nobody-asked-for
@Sax
Believe me, I'm no fan of Coldplay. But I appreciate their paying tribute and I think the arrangement really worked. A cousin of my family was there so I'll get her take.
St. Louis is finally starting to play like a desperate team.
Kings are definitely slumping a bit to end the 2nd.
What's going on in that auto race now, Sax?
All I know of auto racing is what I've seen on the 710.
Pujols 0 for 2 today after striking out in last at bat. Batting .191 on the season.
@Cliff
Auto racing involves thousands of cars all moving very slowly with frequent un-signaled lane changes?
Tarp is off the field. Looks like they're going to try to get this one in now.
Kemp in dugout and not looking happy.
@Dusty - Don't forget the big rigs and the old woman who's blinker has been on for the last 3 miles.
How funny is it to hear all the Angel apologists so far this season: "I don't worry about games in April. Pujols will be fine. He's gonna turn it on any game now."
The games in April count just the same as in September, dickhead. And of course they don't pay attention to games in March and April...they're Angel fans, i.e. the world's most fair-weather band-wagoners.
PUJOLS HOMERS
Preach it, Cliff!
Fuck, are you serious, Orel?
Dusty's weekend is ruined.
AJ Ellis: 2
Pujols: 1
My weekend was already ruined when I forgot to snipe #45 today.
I felt a little sick in my stomach when I saw Dre was batting third
He's tied with Dee Gordon!
Quick!
slap double for Campana
Campana quickly gunned down at third!
Campana stroked a nice double there but tried to steal third and AJellis nailed him.
Second time Ellis has nailed him this series
Harang Ks Castro to end the inning
Hilarious comments on Pujols, guys
I am happy that he hit one, if for no other reason than Dee Gordon will hear footsteps now.
Hairy Jerrston!
Ouch what happened to Jerry there? Dammit
ugh now hairston is hurt
Kennedy replaced Hairston
Looked like a hammy
ugh Kennedy is healthy
Kennedy looks like a ham
Crappy penalty.
Soriano makes the play look difficult
QUICKY, BABY!!!
HUGE save by Quick! Wow, I can't believe that didn't go in.
Quick...simply amazing.
AJellis walks from the 7 hole as well as he does from the 8 hole
Travis Wood....not so amazing.
Well, I hardly think he should be called an 8-hole. That just seems harsh.
TGJr works the walk
free run!
Harang gets us on the board.
bad double play attempt and a bad pickup at first gives the good guys a run!
Dodgers get a gift run
will Dee ever take pitches?
faker
Under 2 to go!
Awesome crowd at Staples. Come on Kings, let's do this! Just over a minute left.
Kings!!!!!
attaboy, Kings!
KOPITAR!
3-1 and there it is!
Score!!!!!!
SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOREEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
To Brown!
Kings are going to just their second ever Western Conference Finals!!!!! First since 1993!!!!!
loving the puck control in the St Louis end for all of the final minute
Sweepadelic!
So happy!!!
Congratulations to your Los Angeles Kings!
Loney snags the liner to end the inning with a dude on 2nd
Also...first 4-game sweep ever!
How sweep it is.
Back to Dodgers now. Let's go, LA sports teams!* ^
*Angels don't count.
^ Clippers don't either.
Mellis nubs one into left, no outs
Cmon Dre, don't forget this is a contract year
Mellis steals second with out 98% of a throw
Yes, those are seagulls, Lyons. You rube.
Rivera with a bomb! 3-0 good guys!
more of a laserbeam than a bomb, but the result is the same
Kennedy doesn't hurt himself on the comebacker
Anyone remember when Soriano was good? I can't.
Anyone remember when Loney was good? I can't.
10-pitch AB for Sloney, and it ends with an out.
FJL Sigh.
OK, I hurt my ankle jumping around the living room. Heh.
Apparently I missed a Riviera dinger?
I think I passed out for a moment.
Harang is in some more trouble
2 outs though, gotta get Castro
Hang in there, Marla.
fudge, single up the middle makes it 3-2
Two year deal for harang.
Gotta think with Rubby and Eo ready for next year he is in the pen or trade bait.
Castro gets a lot of singles
Mike Bibby playing crunch time minutes for the Knicks, down 1, down three games
Why can't we ever knock a starter out early?
@Collins and Lyons
No, you can't sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame in the 4th inning. Just shut the fuck up. Silence is better than you.
[I'm still in third inning on Tivo]
Well, LaHair is no rabbit on the bases that's for sure.
Amazing - Bibby knocks down a 3 - Bricks up 3, 1:23 to go
Why is Spike Lee dressed like Diane Keaton?
Bibby's a playoff vet. He's probably cooler under pressure than most of the Knicks.
Fly out, then popout after the double. Now finish this, Aaron
And he gets the grounder to third - nice work, Aaron!
Darwin Barney's parents when he was born: "Well, what do we name him? His last name's gonna be Barney, so we should come up with a cool first name since he's gonna catch hell for his dorky last name." "I've got it! We'll name him Darwin!"
Le Merde doesn't advance past second.
So spot on, Cliff.
Battier Scottie Pippins Anthony on the three attempt
Pippens
Sellers will be recalled immediately if Hairston has to spend any time off with his hammy.
Marla, what will Sellers do in this case?
145
take more pitches!
that inning was weaksalsa
Ok, workout over. I'm beat.
This inning looks familiar.
Looks like a night game there in Chi
dammit, ump, call that!
@Cliff 3:26p: actually, his name was an evolution from other choices, however
same pitch, makeup call
Yes, nice K of Castro to get out of the inning
Colletti on the radio show: "Our bullpen has been pretty good."
Hmm.
@Sax, did he go on to say "... compared to our bench"?
we haven't gone deep in a count in several innings
@Sax - Well, considering the other options, it was the natural selection.
"Our bullpen has been pretty good...at times throughout franchise history."
James being a good teammate, is sucking again so Abreu can get some more starts
"By the end, by the time Albert Pujols finally hit his first 2012 home run, a little after 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, the "I homered before Albert" club had grown to 273 members."
http://tinyurl.com/6stzkje
I don't have a good feeling about this game
LaHair might be a star, just like Josh Thole
epale everyone!
Wash yer hair, Travis!
Epale, Karina!
What opposing player are you going to worship today to put me in a bad mood? ;-)
damn
howdy, karina
keep working, Aaron
You can't let a guy named Wellington beat you.
Brewers just tied the Giants at 3 in the 9th
O's and Red Sox tied at 6 in the 15th!
throw strikes, stupid!
^ Except at chess. I can see being beaten by a guy named Wellington at chess. Or fencing.
"our bullpen has been pretty good...at blowing games late"
@Dusty, especially one with one "l" in his name
way to stay with it Dee
^that
please don't hurt yourself, Matty
I think I pulled a calf worrying about Matt getting hurt.
another fly out for Matty
I hope we don't get in a situation later in the game where a Matt Kemp AB would mean something
I blink, and the Dodgers are done with their AB.
And Reed Johnson is on first.
Shit.
@Dusty sorry, i'll shut and not talk about what i see in winter baseball at the ballpark :$
Tony Campana! he was GREAT with Aguilas :)
yeah, i said i'd shut up :$
and he's a MSB so beware
same pitch, makeup call, again
Lindblom gives up a leadoff walk but escapes.
3-2 Dodgers through seven
thank you, Dee!
@karina, how are you my dear? What's shaking?
Seagulls in full force at Wrigley
Dee!
Joyce DeWitt would have made that play.
go Dee go!
@Karina
Ok I'll start hating on Campana now. Thanks!
lucky, Dee
lead off single!
I'm fine, Sax. Lots of hard work 24/7, that's why i'm barely here. Tomorrow we'll shoot a commercial and i've been working for it all day long
Ethier GIDP. 0-for-4 for Dre today.
I was gonna say due to laws of average, Dre should hit something good :(
Dre vs Lefties
I do dig that woman with the flag at the beginning of the Optima commercial.
Chevron still uses those stupid anthropomorphic cars.
How positively retro.
Big K there for Jansen for out #1
now comes a GIDP
@Sax
Has Chevron done any sort of sampling to see if those lame cars resonate with anyone? I can't imagine that the cars do.
Jansen WP, so now there's a man on second with one out
@Dusty: I don't know. I would have thought, after Pixar Cars, why bother with these anymore?
Two out.
Barney Ks! That was legen-
Wait for it...
Dary!
