Game 26 Thread: May 4 @ Cubs, 11a

Chad Billingsley (2-1, 2.64 ERA) vs. Paul Maholm (2-2, 6.20 ERA)

After failing to Assemble a rally in Colorado, the Dodgers are Romanoff to Chicago.

When we last saw The Mighty Thigh, he was Loki enough to come away with a no-decision against Stephen Strasburg. When the Dodgers last saw Maholm (with Pittsburgh), he was no Iron Man, lasting only 6 innings on the way to a 2-0 loss.

The Dodgers are having a Banner year, while the Cubs have only Clint-ched one series win. With a little Fury, our boys can Cap this road trip with a win or three.

I won't be able to see most of this one, as I'll be in a theater, watching some new indie flick from the guy that wrote Alien Resurrection. You probably haven't heard much about it.

The Dodgers announce they have signed Bobby Abreu and optioned Justin Sellers to the minors.

Yipee.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Sellers will get a tattoo to console himself.

Dusty Baker said...

Dammit, I wanted to see Sellers stay up.

And Urine sent down/optioned/kicked in the nads/whatever.

Dusty Baker said...

BAAARP it is.

Hideo Nomo said...

Hey, our team got older. Wheee.

Jason said...

Seriously, no Star Wars day post? Who are you people?

May the 4th be with you!

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Shouldn't it be BAARP?

Steve K said...

Sellers to the minors sucks.

Saw the Avengers.
They finally did the Hulk justice.

Breaking Terrible News:

MCA of the Beastie Boys has died. Not enough malt liquor in the world to pour out to appropriately honor him.

^Dude!

Since the Beasties are to the New Sons as Hall and Oates are to the Original Recipe, a tribute post is on the way.

Paul said...

Lets go Bills!

Dusty Baker said...

Shit, we're losing. But, we've already lost today.

(cries, slow and low)

Fred's Brim said...

Cut the shit, Chad

Dusty Baker said...

Hairston HR.

Pujols? Nope.

Dusty Baker's Toothpick said...

HaiRston!!!

Who needs McRibe?

Fred's Brim said...

Chad, you drive me fucking crazy

Steve Sax said...

Has someone told Bills he is pitching to the Cubs?

Fred's Brim said...

Jerry Hairston = Whole Team

Paul said...

We really need a win today Dodgers. Score some runs and Gor the nlue!!!

*cries*

Paul said...

Ouch....I'll take it!!

Paul said...

Speedy dee.

Paul said...

Get the walk Ellis.

Paul said...

Crap. Well tie it up Matty.

Fred's Brim said...

ugh

Fred's Brim said...

Matty's below .400

Paul said...

Chaz Chaz Chaz.

Fred's Brim said...

well he finally got DeJesus out

Paul said...

That's a good start.

Orel said...

Is this the beginning of the slide toward mediocrity?

Paul said...

When's that last time Rivera hit a homerun? Fuck awful swing.

Paul said...

Urine up?

Paul said...

I'd take one of those eyes closed homeruns on a fastball that Uribe was known for in 2010. Or a walk.

Fred's Brim said...

holy hell, Juanny somehow looks fatter in his Yahoo picture

Paul said...

Dude throw him something outside and low.

Paul said...

Was that outside and low Urine's swing blinded me.

Fred's Brim said...

Juanny is the new Mark Ellis

Fred's Brim said...

@Orel I would take mediocrity. If we played .500 ball from now on, finishing 8-10 games over .500 might get us in the playoffs

Paul said...

Go Jerry!!!

Fred's Brim said...

Jerry Freakin Hairston

Fred's Brim said...

I know as soon as he became an everyday player, he would go back to sucking, but what does it take to get him in the lineup every day?

Paul said...

Bobby's on deck.

Paul said...

3-0. This could get interesting.

Fred's Brim said...

Is Abreu with the team yet?

Paul said...

Here we go Bobby!!! (DeNiro voice)

Fred's Brim said...

I guess he is

Fred's Brim said...

hey Bobby (James Brown voice)

Paul said...

That was fuckin outside.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I'm surprised Bobby could suit up so fast.

Fred's Brim said...

fun

Orel said...

Bobby Abreu is now officially a Dodger.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Bobby got jobbed.

Fred's Brim said...

Time for Elbert to give the run right back.

I am goddamn surly right now

Hideo Nomo said...

Well this day is an emotional roller coaster.

Got the MCA gut punch just before going into Avengers. Then, the movie rocked my goddamn fanboy balls off. And now, we're losing.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

This is my fault. I sold the series to Satan in exchange for the Kings' win yesterday.

Fred's Brim said...

i'll take a sweep here if we get back to playing .600 baseball after

Fred's Brim said...

And what would Miroslav Satan do with the series? I guess the Bruins are done so maybe he wanted to watch some baseball

Fred's Brim said...

Coffey time

Fred's Brim said...

back to the DL!

Fred's Brim said...

How can you never get Soriano out, not even once? That asshole steps into the batter's box and he already has two strikes on him for chrissakes!

Fred's Brim said...

Mercifully out of the inning

I quit

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Kemp triples to score Mellis. Dodgers aren't dead yet.

QuadSevens said...

Back to a one run game with Kemp and Ethier getting an RBI each.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Ethier sac flies Kemp. 5-4 Cubs.

Dusty Baker said...

I'm not dead yet!

Steve Sax said...

Kemp and Ethier add two in the eighth, but we're still down by a run.

Elbert in the bottom of the seventh was so
frustrating. Three batters, all of whom reach. I think he had all three batters 0-2 and lost them.

Steve Sax said...

Radio lead-in song for the ninth was the Beasties' Intergalactic.

A good sign?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Hairston has his last chance to hit for the cycle.

Paul said...

You can do it Jerry!!

Paul said...

Or not.

Paul said...

So it comes to this...

Paul said...

Nice!!! Come on Bobby!!

Steve Sax said...

Can we please stop Elbert for a while?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

It's up to Bobby.

Paul said...

Grazed his jersey! I mean his wristband no jersey.

Dusty Baker said...

Welcome, Abreu.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Suck it up, Sveum.

Dusty Baker said...

Adam Kennedy is a better runner than AJ Ellis?

Paul said...

*cries*

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Two tough at-bats for Bobby in his Dodger debut.
