The first step of yesterday's puzzle was to fill in the blanks with the appropriate (if somewhat forced) words from the clues below. Once those were established, refer to the basic guitar chord diagram over each blank.
As hinted in the clues, Chords A-G correspond to 1-7, and the keywords are also suspiciously 7 letters each. Using the appropriate letter of the chord, index over in the keyword to get the resulting letter. When arranged alphabetically by the source word, the phrase "Only Brooklyn Gold Glover" appears.
The only player ever to receive a Gold Glove as a Brooklyn Dodger: Gil Hodges!
Congratulations to solvers ubragg, BCCSweet, QuadSevens, Eric Karros, Steve K, and Mr. LA Sports Czar! Updated rankings will be published shortly. Next puzzle, Thursday May 10, 7am.

Yeah, that's right. I rhymed Symphony and Entebbe. What's it to ya?
I'm also going to award partial solve credit to reader BJ Killeen, who divined the correct answer, but did not quite get through the chords.
BJ Killeen got the correct answer without using the chords!? How in the Hell is that possible?
I believe is was the "Guess" technique for the answer, but she did get most of the progress.
Great puzzle Stubbs! Construction have been not easy.
'construction could not have been easy' is what I meant to say.
I was referring to the puzzle, although apparently it applies to that sentence as well.
Thanks, EK! It was a tough one to write, for sure, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fun.
I agree, I enjoyed that puzzle a lot. Great work, Stubbs!
I managed to solve it even when I botched three of the answers.
Answer sent!
