*can/should I merge the two "the's" into one? Please advise.

"The Netherlands vs Spain" is a bit weird and unwieldy as an adjective. "Let the rivalry between the Netherlands and Spain commence" is probably more grammatically appropriate.; 7/07/2010 9:40 PM

They shouldn't have a name like 'The Netherlands' anyway. Having a 'The' should be reserved for cool or ironic band name.
