Dodgers Download iPodsednik

Dodgers Acquire Scott Podsednik (MLBTR)

Not sure why Ned Colletti chose to trade a catching prospect, given Russell Martin's struggles. Here's the alphabet soup lowdown: MSTI and MoKM hate it; DT hopes the price isn't too high. TBLA breaks down what it means for the Dodgers.

UPDATE: The Dodgers have filled the crucial position of husband-of-Playboy-centerfold left vacant since the departure of Brett Tomko. Good job, Ned! (Thanks to rbnlaw for the heads-up!)

If the Oswalt to the Phils rumor proves true, I might walk into traffic.

By all accounts Lucas May was a very poor catcher who was a ways away from ever being viable, and was more of a hitter than anything (e.g., better suited in AL). Other than the bellyachers, this is not the worst thing on the world. Also, assuming the team decides to go in a different direction than Martin, we can always get a catcher from outside the system - not craziest idea in the world. No Psalm that says a team must nurture a catcher from childhood and bring him through the system. I'm just not bothered by this.

To convince him he should stay in Texas, somebody should send Roy Oswalt pictures of scumbag Philly fans

Not sure about this trade. I did see Podsednik in a spring training game. That day he was definitely hitting the ball and moving the bases. Let's hope he does the same for the Dodgers.

Lady Dodger fans take notice. This man is definitely easy on the eyes and fills out his uniform nicely! Besides I have a soft spot for Texas boys. He is from West, a very tiny Czech community just outside of Waco.

Actually, MSTI enlightened me as to the hottitude of Mrs. Pods.

Still, we could've done much worse in the trade market. Now for that arm. . .

Heard the Angels were close to getting Cliff Lee, but he vetoed the deal, opting for Tejas instead.

Also, isn't Waco in East Texas?

@RB
Waco is considered central Texas. It is north of Austin and South of Dallas along I35.

@rbn - actually, it was Derek Lee who vetoed a trade to the Angels, not Cliff.
