*In fairness, I liked this Plaschke column.

The only edge I can give to Anaheim Stadium (the real name of that house of monkeys, fireworks, and fake rocks) is that you can tailgate in the parking lot without fear of being harassed by bike-riding security and LAPD. Just make sure your beer is in cups.

Oh, and PLASCHKE SUCKS! Yeah Bill, I know, real intelligent. . .but oh, so true.

Anyone have any special Bastille Day plans?

Per Ed Price via Twitter:

"Sources: #Dodgers put reliever George Sherrill (7.32 ERA)) on outright waivers. W/$4.5M salary, should clear, & then can be sent to minors."

That's a perfect example of good bad news, Dusty.

On Bastille Day, a Portuguese wins the stage in the TDF. Sort of ironic; unlike rain on your wedding day.

And yes; I am also a geek for Le Tour. Go Schlek!

And what is it about this heat that makes me want to drink beer?

Oh yeah, the heat. I feel like I'm wasting effort with no game to watch and the self-felating of the ESPY's being the only thing on.

I for one am hitting the gin since there is no beer/baseball opportunity.

So I had enough of the ESPY's and bailed before the Jeter-gasm (I anticipated as much). I turned to ESPNU and found myself watching "The Guru of Go" about Paul Westhead, Hank Gathers, and the LMU basketball team of 1990. I forgot how sad that whole episode was.

Almost bawled like a baby for the second time this year. LMU was so much fun to watch that year, and their run in the tournament was epic.

Now more beer because it's freaking hawt.
