The thing is, I don't think that Ned was necessarily incorrect in his criticism. It was a stupid thing to say on television, though.
Although i also believe Ned's buffoonery was the cause of kemps decline at some point in the season kemp has to be a big boy and get over it. That was like three months ago.
To re-open that whole conversation, I am firmly convinced that what Ned said was not only true but orchestrated by ownership/front office/manager. He wouldn't have just popped off like that. And they wouldn't have done so if there weren't truth to what was said.
I dont think that criticism was right. At the time yes kemp was poor on defense and making stupid baserunning mistakes but he was hitting the hell out of the ball. Now he is doing marginally better on d and the base paths and not hitting at all.

No one should have learned about their disappointment about Kemp's performance. Better for the direct parties involved. If he plays bad, the entire fanbase will notice and criticize without further help from the front office.

Yeah, I definitely agree. You also rarely hear really good teams worrying about where they should be assigning blame.
Actually the Vin/TV bit is a bit more complicated than that. As he got older, it did become a bit more difficult for him to prep TV+radio, but this is negligible. Also, as he stopped traveling east of the Rockies, they couldn't very well just carry a broadcast team to fill in for him in certain away games. Another reason is strictly money-based; the folks who buy the rights to broadcast the game on TV want folks to watch (and watch their commercials) and not just listen to the radio broadcast.
Vinny has clearly developed a crush on Posey. Guess he's on the rebound from Randy Winn.

I was just about to note something similar. The TV broadcast has an advertisement - strangely - for watching the TV broadcast. The advert shows great moments from the season (a HR, the odd walkoff, etc.). It's weird to contrast those happy moments with the current trajectory of the team.
