Clayton Kershaw (7-4, 3.19) vs. Rodrigo Lopez (4-6, 4.42).
COMMENTS: Okay, Kirk Gibson, you've had your fun. The legendary Dodger won his inaugural game as Diamondbacks' manager, so we'll call things even between the two teams. Young gun Kershaw goes against old gun Lopez in an attempt to bring a sense of sanity to Dodgertown before the All-Star break — Lose the games you're supposed to win! Win the games you're supposed to lose! Manny's not on the DL! Now he is! — all while the D'backs try to outdo the Dodgers and Padres in off-the-field dramatics. All this on..."As the NL West Turns."

"Lose the games you're supposed to win! Win the games you're supposed to lose! Manny's not on the DL! Now he is!"
DL an outfielder, call up a pitcher!
Send down a pitcher, call up an outfielder!
Dogs and cats, living together!
It's mass hysteria!
Has anyone tried buying GA a ticket to the Springfield Mystery Spot?
Love the avatar Mr LA SF
At the in-laws, Vinny!
Hi Ladies and Gents
I feel so very bad that Stephen Drew has an owie and can't play against us :)
Time for a Beard Mode smackup.
Rancho Dbags!
Let's get some runs, boys!
YeaLo!
DeWitt delivers!
JMart does not!
Kid K: That's how you do it, Karina's son.
Second error in the inning. Are you the Giants in disguise, Dbags?
I love these DirtBags
LOL ERRORZONA
BISONIC BOOM
MATTHEW!!
HR up in dis bish! This is like last night, but in reverse.
Maybe GAARP should have a meeting with Torre.
Evening ladies and gents. Following the game via MLB mobile sans audio. How was Raffy out at second with Kershaw safe there? KFP-style base running blunder?
@Jason
Kershaw thought the ball was going to be caught in CF, so stuttered around 2nd. Raffy was running full speed as he knew what was up, so ended up passing Kershaw. So Furcal was called out by virtue of his having passed the runner ahead of him.
It wasn't crazy stupid; more of a result of it being a pitcher not used to this type situation and a really hustling Furcal. I'll take the inning, overall.
Gillespie looked dizzy there.
Thanks, DB. I suppose we can chalk that up as karma evening out for the 2 D-Backs errors.
I really wished there was a semi-decent Seattle bar with the MLB package.
Epale from NeeebsIL
I wish you would just open a semi-decent bar in Seattle with the MLB package.
Epale, Neeebs!
And just like that another Dbags error. Thanks, Neeebs!
Son of Errorzona.
HIT THE FUCKIN BASE, XMAN!
Shit, GA could have done that. Or a hurt Manny. Dammit.
I turned on the Dodger game and a little league game broke out
XP needs to cut out the brainless stuff, though it hardly matters in this game.
Bride of Errorzona.
Epale Neeebs!
"This crowd is sullen and mutinous." - Vin
5 errors in 2 and 2/3 innings for the Dbags.
Mexican? Oh Vinny.
"...Lopez [saying] in Mexican or English..."
Oh, Vin.
Error charged to Vin.
My man Josh and I once again on same wavelength. I was face-palming for too long or I would have typed that at exactly the same moment.
GT'ing from OC tonight, folks. If this is what it takes, I might have to come over to the in-laws every game night if it gets us comical wins.
Vinny meant spanish slang, Mexican style.
See what a spin master I am?
Spin is my bailiwick. Even I couldn't spin that one.
Them Drew boys is fragile.
Hot damn baby! 7-0!
Just found out the bar I'm at has the MLB package. The night is looking up!
Don't forget the 5 AZ errors, Saxy
I'm in the minority, but I still like the hats. I just wish there was an alt version without the stars and stripes.
Kershaw at 61 pitches through 3. Not horrible but off his recently improved pace.
Just saw the replay of Furcal out at 2nd. Wow. I did get a good chuckle out of Kershaw breaking towards 1st.
@Josh
The stars and stripes is what I don't like about the caps. Other than that I like them. Of course, it kinda defeats the original jingoistic purposes...
On an entirely separate note that is in no way whatsoever remotely related, Mrs Dusty just showed up with some beer and fireworks. I love this woman! What could go wrong?
I think Raffy just killed a swimmer.
Waffy!
Hey! Raffy got us an earned run!
@Josh
Not bad being in the minority. We can't taunt DB with the caps.
Dwe!
Dre is back!
Gibby looks shell shocked.
I love these pitcher's duels :)
You could tell Dre was going to jack that one out before he even hit it.
Gibby with the long hook tonight.
I really hate the Padres.
Gibson looks like that guy who had the flea circus in the old cartoons.

I mean no disrespect to the caps. And they are infinitely better than the red ones.
Double digits, heyoooo!
I think karen is right, this looks suspiciously like a little league game.
Yay! But we could score a million billion runs and still not pick up a game on the Pads.
6 Errors.
Wow.
I am really loving Tony Abreu tonight
3 erros of 6 on former Dodger Abreu. Think he's trying too hard?
Or, think he sucks?
So, the Abreu-Garland trade made AZ worse and SD (indirectly) better, but had no real effect on the Dodgers.
And one error in my above post. "error"
Flog me!
Wow, that was a great curve.
Here comes the D-Train.
Rancho Willisiendo!
"He's not really trying to preserve anything" - Vin re Willis's situation in this inning. 11-0
In comes Ethier. In comes Loney.
The D-Train looks all kind of out-of-whack.
"There's no mercy rule..." -Vinny
[I need someone to translate it into Mexican]
You know, a wise man once said the D-Train looks all kind of out-of-whack.
Russell stole Gibson's mustache.
@Jason
He should give it back. The 'stache is trash.
LA B-Team
Eric Stephen just made the comment that "Casey Blake is 0 for 3 tonight, and has 3 runs scored"
I love this game!
We're winning 14-0 and Kershaw probably won't be able to get out of the sixth inning.
The Kid deserved to finish the inning. Still, well done Clayton, well done.
I guess you can scratch that "possibly."
What was his pitch count? I don't have GD open. (nor do I care about pitch counts, but just wondering)
@Dusty - 105 I believe.
105 pitches for CK
This game is a perfect example of what happens when you bench GAARP.
Come on, boys! We're letting them back in this thing! Let's get some more runs!
Mrs Dusty just had a breakthrough:
"God, the Diamondbacks are AWFUL."
She is onto something.
Most awkward walk ever.
Did Mrs. Dusty come to that realization while blowing things up? That is a good woman you have there.
Why was Bills left out of the young guns poster?
They're saving him for the Big Butts poster.
The fireworks carnage has not started yet. It's about to after the game.
We just have some sparklery small stuff, nothing too loud to spook the dogs. However, I am fusing everything we have together for full effect. It's like I'm 10 again. But then again, it's always like that.
I like Big Butts. I cannot lie.
T-slicklooking shaggier than usual?
Why did they have Kuo on the "Young Guns" poster anyway? Hasn't he been in the organization since 1999?
You other brothers can't deny
The guy sitting behind home plate might pull something if he keeps up these strikeout calls.
@Mr LASF - Kuo gets credit for DL time.
Broxton should get some work in this game.
(Don't mind me, I'm just baiting the Torre-haters.)
HOLY SHIT I WAS KIDDING.
We need some more insurance runs if we're going to send Broxton in.
Ugh. Any GAARP sighting is bad, even in a blow out. Him getting a hit is icing on the anti-cake.
I would feel more comfortable with a 15 run lead.
Matt was only 2 for 6? It felt like he had a better night than that.
Brox is gonna come in with a 14 run lead. Nobody tell Chad Moriyama.
14 runs? Really?
The Shiner 101 is really good, and fireworks in Texas fly into the air. Tremendous.
So wait, will Broxton get the save?
It's almost midnight here, and I can't go to sleep because I'm nervous about Brox coming in.
Oh, the Romeo y Julieta was pretty good too.
well there goes the shutout. I'm really glad we brought Brox in here. Well done, Torre!
Are you fucking kidding me, right now?
Is Torre just baiting us? A GAARP sighting and Broxton pitching with a 14 run lead?
The question becomes, "Is Broxton hurt, or should he be?"
2 outs already?
Thank you Augie and your .183 avg.
OK, I can sleep now.
Again, Shiner 101 is the new pilsner. Find it if you can.
As pissed off as I am that Brox is in this game, I can't believe that Rick Monday is insinuating that the HR he just gave up to Mark Reynolds reflects concern about his lack of velocity.
Brox then strikes out Rusty Ryal on a 96 mph fastball, gets Cole Gillespie to fly out on a 93 mph fastball, and gets Augie Ojeda to ground out on a 94 mph fastball.
Go to hell, Monday.
Part of me thinks that Broxton was going easy since it was such a cushy lead.
But another part of me is concerned that his velocity is starting to trail a bit. I know 93 is fast, but we all know Broxton has much faster.
Man what happened here? Neeebs lost one of his "e"s.
It's alright! I found Neeebs' extra 'e'. It was in Dre's pile of sunflower seed husks in the dugout.
Be careful DB, that is a glass e.
