COMMENTS: Is it premature to call Clayton Kershaw a stopper? Because of the seven games this season the Dodgers have won when he's started, six have come after a loss. Of course, yesterday's defeat to the streaking Braves wasn't too much of a surprise, given that the Dodgers had swept the last-place D'backs by a series score of 7-4.
Don't let Kawakami's 0-7 record fool you. "In his past three starts, the right-hander has completed 18 2/3 innings with a 2.41 ERA," MLB.com tells us, and with Manny off-kilter, Ethier still trying to find his rhythm and everybody but Jamey Carroll swinging toothpicks, Kawakami might feel right as rain against this poorly made-up offense.
