Post-Game 58 Thread: A Rare Laugher Against the Cards

DODGERS 12, CARDINALS 4

What's a Hawksworth?

Hopefully, about 3 2/3 innings.

—Josh S.

Very, very nice, Josh. Hawksworth was actually worth four innings and six earned runs to the Dodgers, who small-balled their way to a lead early on. The scoring highlights were A.J. Ellis with the SQUEEZE! (legally, you can't talk about squeeze plays without getting excited) bunt, scoring Ronnie Belliard in the fourth, and Blake DeWitt's three-run home run in the fifth, his first HR of the season. Even Garret Anderson got in on the fun with a bloop RBI-double in the seventh.

Carlos Monasterios isn't an ironman yet — Joe Torre hooked him after six innings and 86 pitches — but he pitched a quality start and could be approaching Elyesque levels of effectiveness. Albert Pujols versus Monasterios? 0-for-3 lifetime. Ely trademate Jon Link also made his Dodgers debut fourth appearance of the season, throwing two scoreless to close the game out.

Hope you enjoyed tonight's rare laugher against the Cards, because the next two aren't going to be nearly as easy. Carpenter and Wainwright are waiting in the wings. Let's relive the 2009 NLDS!

@DB (from GT) "And yes, I actually got out of my car and took a number of pics of this ad campaign. Make fun of me if you will, people."

I once stopped on La Brea to take pictures of Tim Biskup's mural for some phone gadget company.

TBLA hits us with this fact:

"Tonight is the first time the #Dodgers won by more than 3 runs since May 18"

Wow.

@Orel

I stopped at that crummy Exxon at Alvarado and Glendale Blvd to snap these while passing traffic stared at this lame white boy wearing a suit and photographing some ghetto-looking graffiti art.

I missed some of the end of the game, so I'm watching now. Link looks a bit like Bills on the mound.

They're showing Vin talking about the Scully/Wooden show they're about to air on Prime Ticket.

@Josh

Yeah love to see you if it's easy enough for you (surely it would be easier than that 3 mile trek you had to make last time).

Orel- Link had appeared in 3 previous games this season, including both ends of the April 27th doubleheader with the Mets.

Did you notice that Vin Scully also said it was Link's major league debut? Doesn't he at least watch the road games?

Greg, Vin corrected himself after a moment.
