Vin Scully, from Saturday's telecast:
On this day in 2005, the Dodgers were playing Minnesota. Hee-Seop Choi, remember? Hit three home runs that day. On a quiet night in the winter, you might still hear the chant. Hee! Seop! Choi!He hit six home runs in three games, one burst of brilliance, then disappeared from the scene. Where is he? He's back in South Korea, and he's playing for the Kia Tigers. Yep, he's still at it, and I'm sure over there, they're chanting Hee! Seop! Choi!
Let's go back to this one.

Stupid Jim Tracy.
I still chant that name during the three-beat drum effect that plays during rallies. I know I'm supposed to say "(Other team) SUCKS!" but there it is.
as a korean and a dodger fan, i don't know what to feel about him. i miss having a korean on the team we could cheer for, but there weren't really chances to cheer.
I attended that game with some friends--one of my favorite Ravine memories. I recall that there was a Korean family about six rows behind us, maybe eight people, three generations represented. Needless to say, the day turned into a celebration for them, and it was infections. By the last dinger, the whole family had become completely ecstatic, grinning and chanting at the top of their lungs, hugging each other and everyone sitting adjacent. It was beautiful. It was what it's all about.
I still feel like Choi was a raw talent that could have made it as a starting first baseman in the bigs had someone (Jim Tracy?) given him a shot. Who knows. I always loved chanting his name, and I wish him the best. Good memory.
